The Pressures of Being Coupled-Up in “Hollyweird”

Wrote this a few weeks ago, but figured I’d finally share it on here! Sorry for it being late!

Ever since that controversial performance with Miley Cyrus at the MTV VMAs, Robin Thicke’s “questionable image” has been circulating throughout the media. Questions such as “Was the performance inappropriate?” and “Was Paula upset?” have been asked, answered, and heavily pondered on blogs and celebrity gossip sites. But the media storm doesn’t end there.

Few weeks ago, E Online reported that a picture of Robin Thicke groping a college student’s butt has surfaced. Within moments of this news breaking, blogs and gossip sites have begun to speculate if Robin knew what he was doing, or perhaps could there be any chance this is photoshopped? Nobody really knows, but one thing we do know that even while the couple is trying to enjoy their vacation at Miami Beach, they can’t escape that pressure of maintaining a “perfect” relationship in Hollywood.

Let’s just face the harsh reality that Hollywood, which deserves the more fitting title of Hollyweird, is a tough place to survive. I myself have been up close and personal with celebrities in the spotlight, and I can contest that the struggles they face in the relationship department are a nightmare! Once you’ve reached a fame or celebrity status, everyone wants to know who you are dating, how you met, what’s the relationship like, etc. And once you get involved with another famous person, the question everyone asks is “Is this a real romance or are he or she dating for publicity?”

Paula Patton and Robin Thicke are just one of the many couples that everyone is paying close attention to. And with that controversial performance with Miley, and remember the picture flying around the web of him grabbing some girls butt, people are beginning to wonder does he respect his wife? Even today, Perez Hilton reported that a rumor is flying around that Brittany Spears hooked up with Robin Thicke (while he was married!). Ah, does the gossip ever stop? But hey, I mean there is a fine line between your profession and your relationship. Let’s not be coy, we all know that Robin and Paul both have their image as “sexy people,” but both of them have the responsibility of being careful and making sure they keep a public image of “I’m taken.”

Yet, taking into consideration Hollyweird and how sex sells, it’s got to be tough to be married but then dance around with girls shaking their butt in your face. It must also be tough going home to your wife, knowing that men around the world are Googling (and staring) at pictures of her in lingerie. Boy, talk about pressure! But it’s part of the fame and image that celebrities have to maintain as beautiful people that the every Joe and Jane can idolize. However, it makes me think about the conversations behind doors with couples like Kanye West and Kim Kardashian, Amber Rose and Wiz Khalifa, Paula Patton and Robin Thicke, and even Jay Z and Beyonce. I’d love to be a fly on the wall when these couples are chatting about publicity and what information about their relationship should remain private or go public.

At the end of the day, I suppose it’s really none of our business to worry about what celebrities are doing with their relationships. But the gossip is so juicy! Sometimes I can’t help but to be curious… 😛
