Mashing beats together, riffs, bass, and lyrics, French turntable group C2C know how to get the party started. I’ve heard a few of their tracks in the past, and along with Birdy Nam Nam, C2C is a turntable group you really ought to check out.
One of my favorite songs from the is “Down The Road.” If you’ve seen the latest Dr. Pepper commercial, then this song has snuck into your ears. When I heard it today on the radio, I began thinking of the commercial, the music video, and just how awesome the art of turntablism is.
Prior to gaining popularity within EDM, turntablism was (and stil is) a key element of true hip-hop culture. From the days of Rocky Steady Crew and the rising street culture of sound, dance, and community, turntablism and “scratching” are a massive abstract expression that you can’t help but to love. And if you don’t loe it or know it, then give it a listen and fall in love. 🙂
