Weekly Jam | Toro Y Moi – ‘Say That’ [Official Music Video]

toro-y-moi_thumbHappy New Year! I hope that everyone had a fabulous celebration last night and is excited for 2013. Iknow it’s only the first day in the year, but I’m already extremely anxious to see what the

next few months have in store. And each week I’m going to be trying out some new posts and things on my blog, starting with the Weekly Jam.

Each week I want to select on video and/or song that classifies as the Weekly Jam. The cut can be from any genre of music or time-period, but it has to be a song that you just can’t get enough of. Everything from the prouction to the vocals and even the music video quality must be exceptional. Of course, even if it’s an old video and the quality sucks, the creativity will be on point and classify it as a Weekly Jam.

To get things started off, I want to kick off this series with a song by Tory Y Moi called “Say That.” His forthcoming album Anything in Return will be released January 22 on Carpark Records, and his single “Say That” is quite a catchy number that gives us an idea of what to expect on the album.

So down to the nitty gritty, why do I even love this song? First off, Chaz Bundick aka Toro Y Moi has a beautiful voice that sends me into these dreamwave vibe. Secondly, he has an interesting style about him and his music videos are always creatively crafted just for him; this video features him in a quirky dance stance and laying around in different parts of a forest.

Toro Y Moi is quite an awesome artist and the hook of this song is reminiscent of a 90s club breakdown infused with dreamwave syncopated chords. These could easily become a weeknight soundtrack for a chill drive home from work or even a weekend drive along Pacific Coast Highway. It’s good music meant to be listened to and zoned out to. 🙂
