2012 was a great gaming for gaming! So many great games came out and by far, the best game of them all (in my eyes) was Mass Effect 3. Hands down, ME3 was such an amazing conclusion to the Mass Effect trilogy, and Bioware has confirmed that they are working on another game in the franchise. Hopefully with the rumors of PS4 and a potential Xbox 720, we will experience more Mass Effect.
As the games of 2012 are still booming with replay value, 2013 is here and it signals the dawn of new games, perhaps next generation systems, and even more awesomeness for us gamers. And as usual, each year there are releases that fit everyone’s distinct gaming personality; nobody is left out in the world of gaming. So if God of War: Ascension or Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance isn’t your style, then there are so many great games coming out that will suit your gaming needs.
Personally, I’m excited about a lot of games coming out this year. I have to even buy an Xbox 360 again just to get my hands on Gears of War: Judgement, and that is alright with me.
But as far as PS3 only games go, I’m insanely anxious to play God of War: Ascension. Wow! Have you seen the trailer x gameplay demo? That game looks amazing and the combos are ridiculous!!! Kratos looks better and badder than ever, and the multiplayer function is a great new addition that might prove to be a lot of fun! Release Date: March 12, 2013
The only reason I owned an Xbox 360 was for Gears of War. HALO was never my thing, but Gears of War wrapped me up and delivered hours upon hours of epic gaming. Oh man, and how awesome is it using a chainsaw on your gun to kill enemies? Mk 2 Lancer is one of the best weapons in gaming history! The new game in the franchise looks really good and it continues the trend of slicing and dicing up them grubs, while enjoying good old-fashioned teamwork. Release Date: March 19, 2013
Perhaps it’s because I’m a woman and I admire strong feminine characters, but I have always been a huge fan of Lara Croft, Tomb Raider. I played almost all the games in the franchise and I’ve loved the complexity of puzzles and insane adventures. Before there was Nathan Drake, there was Lara Croft. And the new game in the franchise is a complete reboot that revisits the character with new design, new story line, and a new approach to how Lara Croft evolves into the iconic Tomb Raider. This game is a must-have for those who love the series and a good old-fashioned adventure. Release Date: March 5, 2013
I remember first seeing the world premiere of The Last of Us on the 2011 VGAs and blogging about the illusiveness of it’s announcement. Of course, since then many details and footage of this game have been released and now I’m super stoked to get my hands on this. I’m a sucker for games that require survival skills, and The Last of Us is exactly the game I’ve been waiting for. Oh and it’s from Naughty Dog, the folks who bring us Uncharted. So yeah, you know it’s going to be good! Release Date: May 7, 2013
Now I’ll gladly admit I haven’t played much of the DmC franchise, but upon seeing the cinematic trailer for the fifth game in the franchise, I’m down to play. The game looks pretty good and I’ve enjoyed bits and pieces of previous DmC I have slightly played, so I’m adding this one to my list as well. Oh and the brand new cinematic trailer is amazing! Dante looks like he is ready to handle business! Release Date: January 15, 2013
Seeing how it is that I’m such a big fan of the Alien franchise, there is no way I’m sleeping on this game! This game is the movie that should have been produced after Alien 3. So when you play this game and see the footage, you’ll see how it truly does appear like a true sequel to the film. Sounds pretty radical, and if you’re a true sci-fi/fantasy fan, then I think you’ll love what this game has to offer. Watch the footage and see for yourself how awesome this game might actually be. Release Date: February 26, 2013
That’s all for now! I will be posting more gaming news as usual, so stay tuned! Oh and if you’re wondering about GTA V, hell yeah I’m excited to play it! But there isn’t a release date yet Watch the trailers here: http://thinksoul25.com/2012/11/14/yeah-its-here-gta-v-trailer-2/
Feel free to chime in with comments on some of the games you hope to play in 2013. Got any favorites so far?
Even though I just sold my Xbox 360 (it was just an old arcade version & I needed the extra cash,) I still plan on getting a newer 360, especially after hearing the news of Gears of War: Judgement coming out in 2013.
I can honestly say when it comes to video game franchises, I’m a huge fan of Gears of War and Call of Duty. Both of those franchises are my top favorites (well, can’t forget Mass Effect). Of course, Mass Effect came to an end with an awe-inspiring trilogy, but at least Gears of War and COD don’t show any sign of quitting anytime soon.
This years E3 Convention starts tomorrow and will last until June 7th. There are a lot of big name games anticipated by fans, designers, developers, and other game enthusiasts, but it seems that the Gears of War: Judgement trailer shows us a quite promising future for the franchise.
Of course, this is just a preliminary trailer being shown at E3, but it still does give us some details on what to expect. The main focus of the game…Baird. Okay, not just Baird, but his squad and their unruly actions. Should make for an interesting plot, and of course, I’m looking forward to slashing locusts with a Mk 2 Lancer Assault Rifle. Seriously, it looks so beautifully disgusting on my 48inch HDTV, guts going everywhere!

Ever since Friday night, I had spent the entire weekend ranting & raving about my excitement upon two things: The Walking Dead new episode which aired last night, and the world premiere of the new Mass Effect 3 trailer which would show during the commercial break. It was just too much excitement for me to handle, but I think I behaved myself very well. Yes, I did walk around the house like a little kid yelling and shouting my sentiments on how awesome Mass Effect is in general, and how much I can’t stand Shane on The Walking Dead. But at least I didn’t call up all my guy friends and engage in hour-long video game talks (I was too tired for all that.)
So, The Walking Dead was surely an awesome episode last night (duh, it’s always great.) But the best moment of last night was that simply stunning cinematic trailer for Mass Effect 3. Us gamers had been teased with a hint of the trailer on Wednesday, but it wasn’t until last night that we got to experience the full trailer with a run time of 2 minutes & 3 seconds. I was a little disappointed BioWare just teased us with a piece of the trailer earlier in the week, but I was extremely happy to have that early access to the Mass Effect 3 demo. If you haven’t played it yet, then totally go download it!
I was literally glued to the TV the entire hour while the new episode of The Walking Dead premiered, and when the ME3 trailer premiered, I think I lost all the sensation in my nerve endings; I went completely numb. I had no idea that I could ever be so excited for a game, but apparently Mass Effect 3 has this insane pull on me. I could probably ascertain that is has something to do with my love for sci-fi (I stayed up till 2am finishing the second book in Ultimate.)
So, I basically love sci-fi/futuristic themes, even a hint of fantasy doesn’t bother me. The entire Mass Effect series has such a powerful story line, and the RPG elements infused with action make it such amazing game. It’s the best of both worlds! I had already beat Mass Effect 2 (never finished one on my first Xbox 360,) on my current Xbox 360, but it’s at my brother’s house. So I decided to buy it on Ps3 and play it over again in order to be ready for Mass Effect 3. I’m almost done with the story and all the side missions, so I should be ready for March 6th launch of Mass Effect 3.
If you missed The Walking Dead last night & the world premiere of the Mass Effect 3: Take Earth Back trailer, then watch the cinematic trailer below. It’s truly a mindblowing trailer that Mass Effect fans will surely enjoy. Dude, we’ve got to “Take Earth Back!” Haha, seriously, I’m uber stoked! It’s hard to be disappointed with this trailer, unless your just an ultimate hater (a lot of those on Twitter last night.) Either way, watch the trailer and see how awesome it is for your own eye. It’s pretty spectacular, right?! Okay, let me stop before the ranting begins….
So for now, I’ll keep enjoying the coverage of this upcoming game, and I’ll try to keep my geeky ranting to a bare minimum.
P.S. You totally
need should watch the trailer in HD. It’s even more stunning when watching it at 1080p.

Man, remember when the Playstation Network went down in April/May 2011? I literally thought the world was going to come to an end. As a gamer, there is nothing I love more than being able to play online with my friends and other gamers across the world. I’m not going to lie and say that I’m not addicted to Call of Duty, well…because I sort of am. So when the network went down back in April, I had lost all respect for the PSN. I wasn’t able to play Call of Duty for a what felt like decades, but in actuality it was only a few weeks. But that outage had me wondering if the PSN would ever gain my respect, and make me a proud Ps3 owner again.
In order keep us consumers happy, Sony did give us some games back then since we survived that tragic ordeal. The free games they gave us were okay (Dead Nation was the only good one,) but I just felt like they really needed to give us something better. Since the outage, PSN has continued to add better full games for download and the Playstation Plus membership does seem to have it’s perks when it comes to game selections. I don’t have a Plus membership, but I still peruse the network in search of some cool free downloads. Beyond Good and Evil still isn’t free, but the full game is only $9.99 and I used to love playing it. I’ve got to admit the selection of games they offer for download is getting way better, but I think PSN has finally made us PS3 owners very proud. DC Universe Online is officially free for us beloved PS3 owners.
In October Sony and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment announced that DC Universe Online was going to finally be free to play on PC and PS3. Dude, how effin’ spectacular is that?! I mean you actually get to download the game for free, and then basically become the hero or villain you always dreamed of being. I’m sold. I actually finally got around to downloading it a few days ago, which for some reason took like 8 hours! But it’s a 16gb file, so it’s a massive download. Yet, in the end it’s so worth it! If you happen to be one of those PS3 haters and a glorified Xbox 360 junkie, then you’re missing out! I know PSN may not be impressive to some, but it has finally truly made me proud to be a Ps3 owner.
I own all three major systems, but I’ve always been Team Ps3. I just love not having to pay for online fees and being able to have access to some pretty cool PS3 only games such as Little Big Planet, Uncharted, and DCUO (DC Universe Online.) I’m so glad that the game is finally free and I actually find myself getting caught up for hours flying around and leveling up to enhance my character’s powers. I never been big on MMORPG’s, but DCUO sure does have a spot in my heart. It’s such a mind blowing game, and if you don’t have it, then go download it from PSN! Oh and to all my fellow PS3 owners out there, be sure to add me on PSN @ Funk25
I’m off to go play DCUO online and fly around for hours, so I now declare this post complete! LOL….I’m telling you, the PSN has finally made me uber proud to be on team Ps3. Ah, it’s so amazing!
