The Harlem Shake: Don’t Fight The Craze, Embrace It [Videos] x [Original Video]

Harlem-ShakeThe Harlem Shake craze is getting strong…very strong. It might just be as popular as the “Shit Girls Say” video craze last year. Remember, everyone and their mama was making videos of “Shit [Insert Group of People] Say.” Well, with that phase dead (for now), the next big thing is getting a group of folks together and recreating the original Harlem Shake viral video.

Now, if you haven’t seen the video, then you truly must be anti-web culture or perhaps living under a rock. About a week ago, this guy on YouTube got together with his friends and made a viral video to Baauer’s hit song, “Harlem Shake.” Basically, he has a mask on and is dancing, while his buddies are calm and slightly bouncing. Then when the beat drops they all wild out and just dance like maniacs. It’s pretty awesome.

Yes, the original is awesome…but the viral videos of this internet meme are quite impressive! Everyone is gathering their friends and doing The Harlem Shake. Heck, I need to get my buddies together and film one just because!

Check out some of the videos below. T-Pain even put together a video. The Best Week Ever did one and even Skryim does the Harlem ShakeI’m telling y’all, this trend isn’t going to die anytime soon. I give it a lifespan of a month, maybe 2 months…or longer!

Awesomesauce | Foster the People – ‘Houdini” [Music Video Made with LEGOs!]

LEGOs are awesome! I’m not even ashamed to admit I love playing the LEGO Indiana Jones & LEGO Batman games on my PS3. The games are so fun & quirky, and it’s a nice relaxing breaking from shooting up a storm on MW3.

I haven’t played with any LEGOs in a very long time, but when I was in NYC this summer I was tempted to buy some LEGOs when I was at the LEGO store in Manhattan. Good thing I didn’t buy any, because I would have been so upset that I wasn’t the one to come up with a music video for Foster the People’s “Houdini.”

Have you seen the video I’m talking about? Well if you haven’t, then watch it now! This 17 year old kid took some LEGOs and made a music video to one of my favorite Foster the People songs. The video is awesomesauce! He even got the mouths moving to the lyrics…very impressive!

Here is the original Foster the People “Houdini” music video.

Awesomesauce | Real Life GoldenEye 64

Sadly I don’t own my N64 anymore, but love reminiscing about the day of playing Super Mario 64, Banjo Kazooie, and GoldenEye 007 64. It was one of the first games that really got me into action games, first-person shooting, and just being the ultimate badass. Like seriously, how much cooler can you get than James Bond?

GoldenEye 64 was notably one of the first-person shooters, and it’s has held great significance throughout the years in gaming. I can’t even begin to recall how many times they have brought back the title; it seems as though they are constantly reviving it and attempting to make it better. But the original is such an iconic classic, it just doesn’t need to be brought into the next generation. I like it being old school. I’d say the only way you can bring it into the next generation is if you do a real-life version, which is exactly what YouTube Warialasky  decided to do.

As gamers, we’ve all experience vehement frustration in having to cooperate deal with NPCs (non-playable characters for those not adverse in gaming references.) Sometimes the NPCs are easy to work with, but sometimes they can just be an annoying hassle. It’s like, why must this character even exist? Well the team over at Alasky understands this frustration, and in their real-life GoldenEye 64 video they remind us gamers how much we hated escorting Natalya around. She was just so useless! And then when you did need her to move, she got in front of you in the middle of action and you accidentally killed her (that’s what happens in the video.)

The video isn’t one of those high quality productions that we’ve been seeing on YouTube lately, but it’s still a great video that was spurred from innovative frustration. It’s surely a cool tribute to the classic N64 game GoldenEye 007, so check out the video below & enjoy a few laughs while reminiscing about how much Natalya got on your nerves.

Everybody Says Sh*t

I guess 2012 is the year for sh*t everyone says. Nobody is holding back this year, and this is evident by the rise of these Sh*t {insert Race/Group] Say. At first there was the Sh*t Girls Say, then it was followed by the Sh*t Black Girls Say, followed by Sh*t Black Guys Say, followed by Sh*t White Girls Say to Black Girls, and on, & on, & on!

The video are super hilarious! But after doing a simple YouTube search you see a bunch of people trying to make their own versions of Sh*t [insert word] Say. Some of the videos are hilarious, while others are sad attempts at comedy. But I have to say that this phenomenon of copy cat videos is not going away, and the latest addition Shit Nobody Says is one that takes a different spin on the approach. Check it out.

And here is another video, except this one is Shit Nobody Black Says. Haha, it’s funny & kind of true.

The videos just keep on rolling in, and the views keep racking up. It’s a great way for budding filmmakers & average people to make a name for themselves. I personally don’t think I’d do a video, but I will keep enjoying these hilarious videos! They cover so many topics from what lesbians say, gay guys say, white people say, monks say, asians say, and even what redneck guys say. Now I have spent some time around some rednecks, so I can honestly say I’ve heard some of the things in the video Shit Redneck Guys Say.

Oh, and there is even a Shit Monks Say. Which if you think about it, monks tend to be quiet. So watch the video below and enjoy the shit monks say or shall I say lack of actual conversation.

Oh, and we can’t forget about the random stuff us girls have said to gay guys. Haha, not gonna lie I’ve also said some of the stuff in the video. It’s super funny!

There are just so many of these videos! But I tend to like the ones that are have good sound & film quality. Some people have just filmed themselves in their room or their bathroom, and it’s just so sleazy looking. I like the videos that at least put some creativity into it, and actually planned it out. So I could have easily posted lots of videos, but these are the best ones I’ve seen so far.

Anyone have a favorite? Perhaps any random ideas on the next video someone should make. I mean everyone says shit, so what group/category of people have been left out? Hmmm….Shit Babies Say? Oh wait, never mind. I just watched one. LOL….man, YouTube is insane!
