Within the past few years, it appears that Superhero movies are becoming the expected; a summer doesn’t pass without an action-packed superhero blockbuster. With so many movies in the script stages, pre-production, production, and post-production, it’s hard to keep up with the films coming out, but SuperheroHype.com has got us covered. And it was all thanks to them that I saw the brand new emotional/epic trailer for Man of Steel.
Hitting theaters June 14th, 2013, Man of Steel is a fresh take on Superman. Considering the failure of the last Superman movie, this film is a great revive of the legendary character. The Zack Snyder (Watchmen, 300) directed film began production in 2008, but now it’s finally ready for comic fans worldwide to get excited about. And with Christopher Nolan (The Dark Knight Trilogy) as producer…its bound to be epic!
Watch the new trailer below. The film has a great cast: “Henry Cavill in the title role, with Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Michael Shannon as General Zod, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Kevin Costner as Jonathan Kent, Laurence Fishburne as Perry White, and Russell Crowe as Jor-El.” Wikipedia
Valentine’s Day is one of those “holidays” I’ve never really cared about nor do I think anytime soon will I become obsessed with celebrating it. Usually it’s just another day for me, and even when I’m in a relationship, I’ve never really had that grand boyfriend to actually care and celebrate. But despite my agnst with the holiday, I’m stoked to get my hands on DC Comic’s New 52 Valentine Day’s Special, Young Romance.
It was officially announced in November, but since January is here and next month is V-Day, it’s about time I post the information. According to DC Comics, the special will be “Featuring characters such as Wonder Woman, Superman, Batgirl, Catwoman, Batwoman, Aquaman, Mera, Apollo, Midnighter, and Dick Grayson, YOUNG ROMANCE: A NEW 52 VALENTINE’S DAY SPECIAL #1 will also include perforated Valentine’s Day cards featuring the stars of its stories.”
Even if you’re not big on romance, you’ve got to admit this should be a pretty steamy edition. The cover below says more than enough. Wonder Woman x Superman’s romance is quite epic, steamy, and perhaps the most incredible passion to ever hit the pages of a comic. Wow, could you imagine being a fly on that wall? LOL! jk jk…
So I have this thing for music. I know it’s shocking! Who does that? Well I do. Music is just great. It’s very mystic, because what is it? What is it about booming sounds pulsating through your body that makes you want to just move? Not just move, but move with passion, move with intent, move with resolve. It can make you cry, whether it has a message or has no lyrics. It doesn’t matter. It can make you bawl like a little baby! It inspires, brings about fear, happiness, it pretty much has the emotional spectrum covered. It’s like a superpower. Probably not the best super power….
Or is it? Could it, in fact, be the greatest super power?…Probably not, but think about it. Just follow me and enjoy the journey. Who is Musicman, or Musicwoman, or the The Great Note? I can’t think of a name, dammit I’m not that creative! It would be a cool power to have. You would just need to be smart about how you use it. What would the famed music super hero do? How would they fight crime? I guess if a group of people rob a bank or something Music superhero person could play a sad tune. It would be a tune so sad, and meaningful, and retrospective that the robbers would truly begin to contemplate their place in the world. Slowly they would put their weapons down not knowing how to describe these newly found emotions. The tears would pour. They would reflect upon a time when life was much more simple. They would think about when they were kids and how they frolicked in the grass. They’ll remember the giggles, the good times, and they would slowly realize those times are gone, and the massive mistakes they’ve made. Tears would flow, regrets would be deeply felt, but they would smile knowing that perhaps those times could come again…..then BAM! Music hero cuts off all their heads with one fatal swing with his/her badass Katana, because why wouldn’t they have a Katana?
That could work. I’d buy that comic, I’d watch that film, definitely would read the book, but what if it becomes an amazing piece of work? What if it’s too amazing? Like so amazing that I decide that I want to be Musicman then I’m found dead under mysterious circumstances next to radioactive waste and an Ipod? I’m certainly that stupid, so on second thought maybe the book/film/comic could be put on hold for awhile.A man can dream though, and I will, and maybe someday out in the great distance you will see the outline of me floating just outside your house. Then I’ll probably cut your head off for some reason.
I actually meant to start writing this post a few days ago (I saved a draft of the title,) but thanks to the news that Wonder Woman and Superman will be romantically involved in the New 52, I was reminded that I should go ahead and write this post.
I have yet to actually take time to read any of the New 52 comics, but I plan on making a trip to the comic store this weekend or sometime early next week. I always knew from watching The Justice League that Wonder Woman could be be a flirty when bantering with Superman, but I always knew that her and Batman had some type of brief fling (or at least they flirted a few times.) Plus, as evidence in the video below, Batman didn’t seem to keen on the idea of dating someone on the JL team.
So how will this relationship with Superman and Wonder Woman turn out? Hmm…who knows. Guess I will have to start reading the New 52 and follow the story closely. I’ll give you my thoughts on that once I actually start reading the new comics.
Alright, so now to the purpose of this post. Wonder Woman. Everyone who comes into contact with me
shortly finds out that I’m obsessed with all things Wonder Woman. I’m basically 5’11 1/2 (more like 6ft, but the 1/2 counts!) I’ve always been tall and quite confident, as well as a little geeky and a fan of superheroes (I’m a gamer, so it shouldn’t be too big of surprise I like superheroes.)
Anytime I get the chance to purchase anything Wonder Woman related, I don’t skip a beat. I’m just so in love with what she represents, and if I ever got a tattoo it would probably be a Wonder Woman logo (I’m so serious.) But of course, not tattoos in the near future for me, so I just stick to collecting Wonder Woman memorabilia.
I’m not even where I’d like to be when it comes to starting a collection (I’d need a job to seriously start putting money aside to feed my obsession.) But I’ve got some cool stuff so far, and I even plan on buying a custom-made Wonder Woman costume for Halloween from Etsy. I can’t wait!!!!! Oh, and have you seen the custom-made Wonder Woman heels? My oh my, sign me up for a pair! They come in any size, all you do is send your shoes in and she will custom make the shoe. Pretty cool, right? And another girl on Etsy has custom-made shoes as well up to size 11. I rock an 11-12, so I might consider buying her pair as well. But I like the ones below. Click here to check the seller out on Etsy.
Both of these guys are insanely huge fan of all things Wonder Woman, and back in 2008 Sam did an interview and let the world get a peak at his collection of epic Wonder Woman memorabilia.
I’m not sure how much Sam’s collection has grown since the video, but a followup video of Wonder Boy features an awesome custom-made Wonder Woman outfit he made.
All I have to say is, WOW! Both of these guys have collections that are totally worth envying. Geez, I need to step up my game and perhaps seriously start collecting. But man, it’s going to be so expensive. Oh well, one day! For now, I will keep collecting inexpensive Wonder Woman memorabilia and enjoy being a real-life Amazon.
Chronicle came out in theatres last weekend, and I have yet to actually go see it. Remember how I was raving & ranting about superheroes and how I wish I had powers? Okay, perhaps you don’t remember, but I do!
Well I’m a huge fan of superheroes, and I’m willing to admit that I can be sort of a geek when it comes to Marvel Comics & DC Comics. If I had to choose between Batman & Superman, I would choose Batman due to his innovative crime fighting skills. I mean he is an average guy with no real powers, but he still kicks butt. Pretty dope if you ask me.
I mean think of it, Superman is basically indestructible. The only thing that can really stop him is Kryptonite. But back in the day, DC Comics decided they needed to switch things up; killing off Superman was the next best course of action, and a way to piss off the fans. Not only did it piss off fans, but it created so much confusion!
All the confusion of the death of Superman (following his return) is something that comic fans have had heated discussions over for years, but Max Landis (co-writer of Chronicle) decided to release a hilarious live-action parody (released same day as Chronicle) that provides viewers with his perspective on “The Death And Return of Superman.” The film is a little over 16 minutes in runtime, and it’s basically inspired by Max Landis’ “drunk history” short films.
If you happen to be one of those geeks/nerds out there that was upset/confused/annoyed at the death of Superman & the chaos, then you might want to check out Max Landis’ hilarious short film The Death And Return of Superman. The narratation and the cheap live-action costumes & acting create a short film that is innovative, riveting, and evokes a major LMAO moment. The video even stars Simon Pegg, Elijah Wood, Mandy Moore, and many more, so you’ll want to watch the full thing to experience the essence of Max Landis and his witty sense of humor.

Ever since I was a little girl, I’ve always been a huge fan of Superheroes. I’d sit in class (I still do) and begin daydreaming what I’d do if a villain attacked the school. I’d sneak out the classroom, run to the bathroom or janitors closet, and rip of my clothes. Underneath, I’d be wearing this amazing costume, sort of like JLA’s Vixen cat suit. If I could have any powers, I’d would be awesome to have the Cyclops power mixed with Wonder Woman’s amazing superhuman strength. That would be tight! I’m a huge fan of Justice League America and X-Men as well. I have a wild imagination and I think the concept of superheroes are amazing.
My day dream usually concludes with me rushing back to the classroom and fighting the villain head on. I get a couple of bruises, like most superheroes there is usually a struggle at some point in the fight. But I get back up and use my superhuman strength to punch the monster. He goes flying and while he is in mid air, I use my Cyclops rays to finish him off. I think like this on a regular basis, life is so hard, and its nice to take a mental break and relax in imagination.
I enjoy watching movies that involve superhuman powers, especially the animated movies. Batman doesn’t have any superhuman powers, but he is still an awesome character. A few weeks ago I watched Batman:Under the Red Hood and Superman/Batman Apocalypse. Both of those movies were really good! The Apocalypse movie told the story of Supergirl and it concluded with this amazing fight scene at the end with Darkseid, Supergirl, and Superman. If you have Netflix, it’s worth checking out!
I’m excited about 2011, not only because I’m moving back to the East Coast, but also because of all the great movies coming out! 2011 is going to be a great year for Superhero movies. I’m especially amped for Transformers: Dark of the Moon, Green Lantern, X-men, Captain America: The First Avenger, and even though Sherlock Holmes isn’t necessarily a superhero, I’m still looking forward to the sequel. I’m also curious about JJ Abrams Super 8 movie. He is known for producing secret movies, but from the teaser trailer, it may involve someone or something with superhero strength. Whatever the case may be, I will be looking forward to seeing the veil of secrecy lifted.
