WHCD | Pres. Obama & Jimmy Kimmel Deliver a Heavy Dosage of Laughter [Full Speeches]
So, I’m not really big on politics. Yeah, I watch the news and I typically have a general awareness of what’s going on, but I don’t live and breathe the logistics of politics. It’s just never been my cup of tea. As long as whoever is in charge is trying to improve our society, promote some level of equality, and is decently environmentally conscious, then that’s typically all I’m usually concerned with.
But it’s hard to avoid political enthusiasts and conversations of politics, especially due to my geographic location. Living in close proximity to Washington, D.C. I’m always encountering young professionals who are so passionate about politics (I usually try to avoid those lengthy conversations.) I’d rather discuss art, music, and perhaps sociocultural issues, but I refrain from political jargon. Yet, that doesn’t mean I’m immune to the desire to tune in to the White House Correspondents Dinner.
Every year I end up watching the White House Correspondents Dinner (WHDC.) Usually I tune in to see the “who’s who” and of course, the speeches given by the president. Luckily, we have a president in office who is actually quite funny (even if the jokes are written by someone else.) President Obama is quite the charismatic and humorous guy. He killed it last year at the WHDC, so I knew this year was going to be an even more hilarious feat. And I was right! Obama was pretty funny last night!
I really liked how they set up his speech. It all began with him walking off stage and then making it seem as though he accidentally left his mic on. So the crowd got to listen to Obama crack some jokes and express his thoughts, while making it appear as if he didn’t know the mic was on. It was classic! Then of course, he came out on stage and rocked the crowd with his jokes. He even joked a little to Newt Gingrich (who was in the audience,) and he told him that there was still time to get in the game. Newt himself had to even laugh, even if he wasn’t the biggest Obama supporter.
Following a round of great jokes and of course, commentary from Obama, Jimmy Kimmel then came on stage and did his thing. I was waiting for him to mention the obvious thing that apparently nobody was going to address; why the hell was Kim Kardashian at the dinner? She came with Lindsey Lohan and both of them just seemed so out of place. George Clooney’s presence and even the cast of Modern Family (Jimmy made fun of Sofia Vergara’s cleavage and the Colombian secret service scandal) seemed appropriate, but I was just shaking my head that Kim was there. Sorry, but yeah, I just don’t like her. She’s famous for what? Having a sex tape, and it wasn’t even that good. LOL. So yeah, I’m glad Jimmy at least poked fun at her.
Jimmy’s entire speech was pretty hilarious, and he truly did a kick-ass job! I could sit here and mention all my favorite jokes, but honestly I loved every moment of it. So instead of sitting here breaking everything down, I’d rather have you engage in the laughter and watch Jimmy’s speech below, as well as President Obama’s hilarious speech.

SNL | Sofia Vergara Rocks!
Did you happen to catch Saturday’s episode of Saturday Night Live? Well Just in case you missed it, then you should totally check it out!Modern Family actress Sofia Vergara did an excellent job hosting SNL for the first time, and she showed the crowd that not only is she beautiful, but she is super hilarious!
I’m a huge fan of Sofia Vergara, so I was anxious to see how she did on the variety of skits. I kept wondering if they would poke fun at her thick Latina accent, and of course, they did. In a skit for Pantene Commercial, Sofia and another actress tried to be super sexy while reading the lines for the commercial. The director gave Sofia the easy words, but prompted to give the other Latina actress some awfully difficult words. It ended up being a pretty funny skit! Especially since everyone who knows Sofia, knows that she has a thick accent since she is from Colombia.
Sofia made her appearances on a few skits, including a skit mocking The Hunger Games. That one was basically funny only if you’ve read or watched The Hunger Games. I read the book, so I thought the skit was funny. But the episode also had some other skits that were funny, including a News Promo, Sex Ed w/Gilly, Manuel Ortiz Show, Bein’ Quirky With Zooey Deschanel, and a hilarious We’re Just Friends Commercial.
Overall, I thought the episode was pretty funny. Sofia Vergara rocks! She did such a great job and she exceeded my expectations comedy wise. I’ve come to love her on Modern Family, butSNL gave fans a glimpse of just how funny she really is.

Work What You Got: Sofia Vergara Kmart Collection
The beautiful Colombian actress and star of the hilarious hit ABC show Modern Family has finally debuted her fashion line at Kmart. Yay! I’m a huge fan of Modern Family and the season premiere was so funny! There are so many good shows on television this fall, but I’m glad that I have a DVR to record all the mania.While watching Modern Family and recording Up All Night, I finally saw the debut commercial for Sofia Vergara’s clothing line.
I’m a huge fan of Sofia Vergara. She is funny, stunning, and has this sexy thick Colombian accent that she is known for. She talks to fast with such a thick accent, but she uses it to her advantage in her comedic presentation. I think she is such a funny actress and her looks are stunning! She is one of those women that I’m not ashamed to say is beautiful, sexy even. I have no problem dishing out a compliment to a beautiful woman, and Sofia Vergara in my opinion is a beautiful woman that knows how to accentuate the curves.
She works with what she’s got and that’s the whole motto of her new fashion line at Kmart. It’s all about embracing your curves and working with what you got. Be fierce, be fabulous, and honey don’t be ashamed of them curves. Work it!!! I’ve been working out lately and it’s amazing to see how, even though I’m losing weight, my hips and waist are becoming more defined. The hour glass figure I’ve had is finally starting to shine and its fabulous; now all I need our some new clothes on a college student budget.
I’m glad her collection is at Kmart, an affordable store for the everyday woman. Of course I still shop at H&M, Nordstrom, and other department stores, but Kmart, Target, and the occasional shopping spree at Payless are perfect for the fashionista on a budget. It’s nice to see more celebrities and fashion designers making affordable versions of their designers available for the everyday woman that may not have $500 bucks to drop on a new outfit. I have no problem spending a lot of money on fashion, but I’m in my last year of college and don’t have that 9 to 5 yet. Once I graduate and get a job technical writing or proposal writing in DC, then I’ll be having those weekend shopping sprees and finally treating my body with the fabulous clothes it deserves.
Until I graduate in Spring, I just have to keep working on crafting my body into a better piece of art, but also begin finding my personal style and showing off the curves that probably won’t go away. I’d hate to lose my curves, so I’m glad they aren’t disappearing. Being curvy doesn’t make you a woman, but it makes me feel like a gorgeous woman. I love having those natural curves, hips, dips, and booty. Being super skinny wouldn’t work on my 6ft frame, so I love finding clothes that can accentuate my curves and height.
The clothes in the Sofia by Sofia Vergara collection are simple yet fabulous. They are the basic essentials that every curvy woman needs. You can never go wrong with a tight fitting dress, leggings, long tunic tops, and a sexy blouse. The line also has that Sofia Vergara flair people are used to seeing on Modern Family. Can we say prints?! She has a few printed tops in the line, also a printed dress that is sure to be a banger on any woman that has curves. It is also rumored that Sofia is working on a racy lingerie line that should debut in the Spring, so I’m looking forward to seeing what else the sexy Colombian has in store for us curvy fashionistas.

It is a must see collection for all those curvy women out there who don’t have the budget to go on expensive designer sprees. Pick up one of her outfits at Kmart and then head over to Payless and pick up a pair of fabulous shoes by Christian Siriano; a true fashionista knows how to live on a budget and splur when she has the right job to pay for it.
So go out there and be the sexy, daring, and fabulous woman you deserve to be! Don’t be ashamed to say you got it from Kmart and Payless; it’s a great deal and just goes to show you can be sexy on a budget. I actually have a date coming up in the next few days, sounds like a trip to Kmart and Payless is in store; gotta work what I’ve got!
