Future of the Future | Exciting Details x Highlights of the Playstation 4 [Confirmed Titles Included]

ps4-leadEven though the PSN can get on my nerves sometimes, I’m still a die hard Sony fan. The only time I ever lost my trust in Sony was when the PSN was done for weeks in 2011; I almost lost my mind! But following that embarrassing incident, Sony has kept my interest and I still play PS3 on a daily basis. So with the news of the PS4, I’m proud to be an avid supporter of PlayStation. :)

Unless you are totally unaware of the happenings in gaming culture, then you have no excuse not to be aware of this week’s Playstation 2013 meeting; official confirmation of the Ps4 and the future of gaming.

Yes, yes, yes! The next step in the Playstation series will be the Ps4. In the tradition of Playstation, there is no need for a new name. Might as well continue the series of Ps1, Ps2, Ps3, and now a Ps4. And as the fourth generation system in the Playstation franchise, it seems that this will be the best one to-date.

Of course the Ps3 is quite spectacular and the free online play is a huge perk, but the Ps4 has a lot of new features that will take gaming and interaction to new heights.

I could go on and on about all the new features, but that is boring! Especially when you can watch it for yourself. But here is a few of the new perks, as well as the confirmed titles that will be on Ps4.

P.S. this console is slated to be released in the Holiday season of 2013. No

Features

  • Background uploading and downloading

The First 30 Minutes of ‘God Of War: Ascension’ is Beyond Epic!

God-of-war-Ascension-2At first I thought I was having a great day because of the new French Express mix, but then I watched the First 30 Minutes of God of War: Ascension, and now my day is a million times better!

GOW: Ascension is the forthcoming game in the God of War franchise, and it brings Kratos back in action with insane combos, incredibly (might I add disgusting) enemies, and all the ingredients of action, mythology, and advanced weaponry that make Kratos one of the best characters to ever hit PS3.

In the new 30 minute gameplay, we get the chance to see the new title in action. The game starts off with this ugly chick with legs, one arm, and a minion of flies that can bring things to life. From the gist of the conversation, I’m assuming she might have dated Kratos or something, but he sure does plan on kicking her ass for what she puts him through.

Now of course, unless you want to be surprised when you first play the game, then I recommend you don’t watch this video (spoilers guaranteed.)But if you can’t wait and you’re curious what you will be getting your hands on, then grab some popcorn, push play, and enjoy Kratos kicking major ass!

PSN Has Finally Made Me Proud

Man, remember when the Playstation Network went down in April/May 2011? I literally thought the world was going to come to an end. As a gamer, there is nothing I love more than being able to play online with my friends and other gamers across the world. I’m not going to lie and say that I’m not addicted to Call of Duty, well…because I sort of am. So when the network went down back in April, I had lost all respect for the PSN. I wasn’t able to play Call of Duty for a what felt like decades, but in actuality it was only a few weeks. But that outage had me wondering if the PSN would ever gain my respect, and make me a proud Ps3 owner again.

In order keep us consumers happy, Sony did give us some games back then since we survived that tragic ordeal. The free games they gave us were okay (Dead Nation was the only good one,) but I just felt like they really needed to give us something better. Since the outage, PSN has continued to add better full games for download and the Playstation Plus membership does seem to have it’s perks when it comes to game selections. I don’t have a Plus membership, but I still peruse the network in search of some cool free downloads. Beyond Good and Evil still isn’t free, but the full game is only $9.99 and I used to love playing it. I’ve got to admit the selection of games they offer for download is getting way better, but I think PSN has finally made us PS3 owners very proud. DC Universe Online is officially free for us beloved PS3 owners.

In October Sony and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment announced that DC Universe Online was going to finally be free to play on PC and PS3. Dude, how effin’ spectacular is that?! I mean you actually get to download the game for free, and then basically become the hero or villain you always dreamed of being. I’m sold. I actually finally got around to downloading it a few days ago, which for some reason took like 8 hours! But it’s a 16gb file, so it’s a massive download. Yet, in the end it’s so worth it! If you happen to be one of those PS3 haters and a glorified Xbox 360 junkie, then you’re missing out! I know PSN may not be impressive to some, but it has finally truly made me proud to be a Ps3 owner.

I own all three major systems, but I’ve always been Team Ps3. I just love not having to pay for online fees and being able to have access to some pretty cool PS3 only games such as Little Big Planet, Uncharted, and DCUO (DC Universe Online.) I’m so glad that the game is finally free and I actually find myself getting caught up for hours flying around and leveling up to enhance my character’s powers. I never been big on MMORPG’s, but DCUO sure does have a spot in my heart. It’s such a mind blowing game, and if you don’t have it, then go download it from PSN! Oh and to all my fellow PS3 owners out there, be sure to add me on PSN @ Funk25

I’m off to go play DCUO online and fly around for hours, so I now declare this post complete! LOL….I’m telling you, the PSN has finally made me uber proud to be on team Ps3. Ah, it’s so amazing!

Zombies & Chimera

The countdown to the first two major releases of the anticipated Fall 2011 game lineup is only one day away. I’ve been obsessing over zombies and closely following the news surrounding Dead Island, but I’m also looking forward Resistance 3. I know I’ve been blogging about my excitement about the impending release of Dead Island, but Resistance 3 is going to be one of those must-have games in my collection.

I’m a Sony kid at heart, so I try to support PS3 titles that aren’t multi-platform, which is why there isn’t a doubt in my mind I will be picking up Resistance 3 on Tuesday. While I’m still a fan of Xbox 360 and plan on getting Gears of War 3 for my 360, I tend to spend 85% of my gaming time on the Ps3. All the games I pre-ordered this fall (Battlefield 3, COD:MW3, and Dead Island) are all on Ps3. The only game I will be getting on 360 this fall will be Gears of War 3. Everything else will be strictly on Ps3, especially Uncharted 3 since it’s strictly PS3.

The first Resistance was pretty awesome and the second one was good (had flaws of course) but the third installment is a major graphical improvement. As a gamer, geek, and artist, I can be very picky when it comes to the graphic superiority of game. They have the capability to push a game to the limit, so why not? Even with the limited budgets and/or the lack of funding, I’m sure if the concept was great and a big developer got behind it, then a game can push that limit and provide us gamers with stunning visuals that aren’t just cut-scenes.

I used to get so upset when a game had breathtaking cut-scenes, but then gameplay visuals were nowhere in comparison to the vivid cut-scene that provoked me to play the game. I felt as though it was false advertising, sort of like wearing butt pads or layers of weaves hiding super short hair underneath, it just didn’t seem right to me. The game developers and engineers seemed to place more emphasis on the cut-scene in order to sell the game, but then the gameplay was lacking in epic proportions. Some games are still like that, but with so much next-gen technology, it’s a bad idea to focus on visually stunning cut-scenes and not implement that technology into real-time gameplay. Resistance 3 is one of those games that realized it’s flaws in the past and decided to step up the pace with a whole new look.

The graphics are visually stunning! I was playing the Online Multiplayer Beta yesterday and was blown away by the noticeable difference between the second and third installment in the Resistance franchise.  The Chimera don’t look as cheesy as they often did in the second game and the environment is consistent. I’m not if they used a different engine (sort of how Mass Effect 3 is on a different engine than Mass Effect 2,) but whatever they did worked. I wasn’t too sure if I was going to buy Resistance 3 on the day it came out, but how could I not? Great graphics, a great story line, online multiplayer, and a few laughs while playing around with the pronunciation of Chimera.

Final Thoughts: Basically, I can’t wait to get my hands on Dead Island and Resistance 3. I’ve already read IGN’s review of Dead Island and even though it has some faults (all games do,) it promises to be an action packed game of zombie dismemberment and tactical survival skills. Zombies are always a good concept for a game, but I can’t leave out the classic concept of aliens, that’s where the Chimera come in. Dead Island + Resistance 3= Zombie & Alien madness!
