Bruno Mars has just debuted his new music video for his catchy single, “Treasure,” and it’s booming with bell bottoms, gritty Soul Train camera angles, and it screams the 70s.
The 70s styling reminds me of Duck Sauce’s “Anyway” music video, but of course, the music is different. Both are great music videos that pay homage to the 70s.
As a big fan of Bruno Mars, I must say that he can do no wrong in my eyes. He is the epitome of musicianship, and the quality of his music is impeccable. Seriously, how could you hate Mr.Mars?
Back in April, I had the pleasure of introducing you to the deep house sounds of French producer, Sebb Aston. He’s basically this really cool French guy who now lives in Malaga, Spain, and he produces deep house music. But don’t be mistaken, he isn’t just a house music junkie. He’s still got roots in hip-hop production too.
Now, his brand new EP Gotta Be is OUT NOW! It’s jam-packed with a variety of deep house hits that will have you swaying from left to right, or better yet, chilling out and boppin’ your head to the intoxicating beats.
Show some love to Sebb Aston and get this EP! Trust me, it’s delicious!
Last Friday, I did my weekly ritual of heading down to DC for Red Fridays @ U Street Music Hall. Normally I roll by myself, then a few of my buddies show up and we dance like crazy. And if they don’t accompany me, then I dance by myself and have a blast.
But last Friday I bought a friend with me…someone who’s never gone house dancing before.
If you’ve never gone house dancing, let alone house dancing with me, then you are in for a wild night of non-stop dancing. I don’t stop. I dance all night. I laugh. I twerk. I salsa. I get sweaty. I sweat. Oh, and I sweat. Clothes dripping wet from hours of cardio. But as long as I’ve got some water and some good music, then I’m straight. But if the DJ of the night decides to tease my ears with some deep x jackin’ house, then I’m going to loose all control.
And I did. At the last minute on Friday, right when I proceeded to call it quits around 2:25am (after 3+ hours dancing non-stop,) the DJ, Sam “The Man” Burns, dropped Bicep’s “Vision of Love” and I tore it up! Well, let’s just say my skirt was riding high, and I was jumping up in the air, doing a lil’ house footwork, and getting super sweaty. But according to the guy I was with, something about me dancing and being so energetic is sexy, perhaps exciting; house music does something to me. I don’t know what it is, but I like it.
I was ecstatic to end the night dancing to Bicep, and it made me think of how infectious deep house and jackin’ house is. When that beat is jackin and punching your body, you’ve got to just jack your body: left, right, up, down, and all around.
Does house music move you? Does it make you shift into a euphoric high? Maybe, maybe not. But one thing I know for sure is that deep and jackin’ house are hard to resist: Dancing is not an option, you must shake yo rump!
Check out “Vision of Love” and fall in love with Bicep’s Boiler Room Mix. Hands down, one of the best Boiler room mixes!
Slated to release on June 14th, this slow (118bpm) sensual grooving tune is quite an impressive release on Déepalma Records. The sensuality of Polina’s voice infused with the enigmatic production of Johnny Bravo is eargasmic.
Not only is the original track guaranteed to blow your mind, body, and soul, but the remixes from Ruben Alvarez, Yves Murasca, and Chris Rockz gives this track exotic variety. Ruben Alvarez & Yves Murasca dub has lively percussion and vibes that make you want to sway your hips, find that sexy partner, and pull them close. Whereas the Chris Rockz dub remix gives the track a subtle tech-house vibe.
So which one do I vote as my favorite? Quite frankly, I love them all, but the original with superb production from Johnny Bravo, is a winner in my book.
Disclosure’s new music video for “When A Fire Starts To Burn” is all about turning up the heat!
It might not be the best word ever spoken, but it’s surely got these folks shouting and sweatin’ in the “spirit.”
Featuring an over zealous pastor figure, the video has a congregation getting all rowdy, sweaty, and lost in the emotion of what happens when a fire (spiritual one perhaps) starts to burn.
Simple video, but the beat is a banger…so it works!
Watch it below and be sure to get Disclosure’s album Settle when it drops June 3rd.
The old school images from 80s films and music videos might not be what comes to mind first when you think of “Urban Sex,” but this video works!
The video is so fresh, so hype, and the ultimate groove to get in a funky, spunky, perhaps let’s get down mood. Okay, maybe not all that, but hey, this video is legit!
Check out the video edited by Meat Cassette. Lifelike’s new EP will be OUT IN JUNE on Nurvous Records.
Two weeks ago I shared with you Bicep & Simian Mobile’s collaborative track “Sacrifice.” Now the official music video is here.
Similar to most of Simian Mobile Disco’s music videos featuring geometry and patterns, the new music video for the track has the same theme. Shapes, patterns, and basic geometry are at work here. But the song is so addicting, so watching the video doesn’t led to boredom.
Give it a spin!
