Dope | Ester Dean – ‘Bam Bam’ [Official Video]

Yo, this video is hilariously dope! Saw it a few days ago, and I know it’s not normally what I post, but I’m full of surprises. ;)

Ester Dean is legit and this beat goes hard! Peep the video below for her track, “Bam Bam.”

Disco Pop | Shindu – ‘Just Go’ [Original Music Video x Remixes]

artworks-000035594692-qap0um-t500x500Disco groovin’ is one of my favorite pastimes, especially if it’s got a pop sound in it. Pop and disco fused together is such a fun genre to listen to. You can just jump around, point your fingers, wear sandals, lollipop colored clothing, and have a blast. Wait, that sounds like a Katy Perry music video. Hahaha, but you get the point…disco pop is unreservedly fun!

I love all variations of any type of pop, especially if it is electro pop or disco pop. As of right now I’m really loving Disco Pop group Shindu and their single “Just Go.” It was released on London-based label, Continental Records and the official music video came out about a week ago.

Watch the official video and get a feel for the sounds of Shindu. Once you’ve got the original song in your head, then do me (and yourself) a favor by checking out the new remixes courtesy of Reflex, Kamp! (my favorite), Oxford, and Plaisir de France.

Don’t forget to check out more music from Continental Records. I’ve posted one of their tracks in the past, “Surrender” by Kill the Hero ft. Maggie de Monde. Good stuff!

Awake

My professor in Creative Writing give us this assignment. The guidelines were: 1) three found words from a nonfiction book 2) no abstractions whatsoever! 3) the name of a city 4) a bird 5) a very specific color

Of course I ignored the second rule and used abstractions, but I still got a good grade. :)

So here is what I selected: 1)Fetish, Liberation, Aristocrat 3) New York 4) Owl 5) Red

Here is the poem I ended up creating.

Awake

I love the work of Edward Hopper. So timeless, truly captures the moments of life.

He sits high above,
Aristocrat steeped in pride.
Watching the moon rise

The night owl comes alive.
On the prowl, he seeks liberation.
Office politics become a haze…

Painting the New York skyline red,
Indulging in his weekend fetishes.
Monday, life begins and ends.

SNL | Bruno Mars Is Not Only a Great Singer, He’s Also Hilarious at Sketch Comedy

Man, this post is so late! I meant to write about SNL a few days ago, but I was on the road traveling. Luckily, the hotel we stayed in on Saturday night had cable, so I was able to see the last few sketches of the night. And from what I saw, it seemed as though Bruno Mars did an awesome job; not only is he an insanely talented singer, but he is incredibly hilarious!

Normally I’d go into great detail about all the sketches, but since this post is super late, I’m just going to post the videos from the episode.

All of the sketches were pretty funny, but the one that stood out the most was the sketch that shows us what happens when Pandora channels crash. So what happens? Well Bruno Mars steps in, playing the role of an intern, and sings the missing parts of songs from artists such as Katy Perry, Justin Bieber, Michael Jackson, and many more! It’s a hilarious sketch that you totally must watch, but sadly NBC took the sketch off the web due to copyright issues. So basically, they are acting as if the sketch never happened. SMH.

So you can’t watch that sketch, but you still can watch some of the other ones that Bruno Mars starred in. And aside from the Bruno Mars sketches, be sure to check out the Cold Opening and the Brad Pitt commercials.
