I don’t only jam to house, I rock to everything! And I’m a huge fan of indie music. Their is something so riveting about discovering indie music with pure musicianship, and as of late, a group named Foals from the UK have caught my attention.
Foals new album, Holy Fire is set to be released next month and their indie track, “My Number,” is simply amazing. But Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs (TEED) took the track to new heights with his brand new remix of the track. All I can say is wow, certified amazing! Is there anything Oxford based producer Orlando Higginbottom aka Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs can’t do? His originals x remixes never disappoint!
Peep the remix x original track below.
Eh, it’s beginning to get a lot colder here in Maryland. It’s not as bad as it was being in Denver on a cold day, but it’s starting to get chilly. The other day it attempted to snow, but it didn’t stick at all. I was disappointed for a moment, but then remembered my dad had to take the bus home so I crossed my fingers and wished that it would stop snowing. It’s totally not fun taking the train & bus when it’s chilly outside, but you do what you’ve got to do until you get a car.
I was actually going to go to the Smithsonian the other day, but it was too cold and I didn’t feel like taking the bus all the way to Shady Grove then riding the
train down to Union. So instead I enjoyed the comfort of my house and daydreamed about summer. I sort of miss those humidly hot days here in Maryland. Those days when all you did was listen to upbeat summer anthems while wearing colorful clothes. Summer, and even Spring, making being flirty and wearing colorful clothes so much more fun. You can flirt in winter, but it’s not as sexy because you don’t get to wear all the colorful revealing clothes.
My reminiscing about summer and warm weather just inspires me to start vacationing more and perhaps going down to Miami for the weekends. But until that becomes a reality (graduating & having a job to afford weekend trips,) then I’ll just enjoy one of my favorite summer time songs, “Climbing Walls.”
I guess it doesn’t have to just be a track for summer, because apparently it’s winter and I’ve been jamming to this song all day. The song came out in 2010, and it’s be an awesome Australian indie band called
Strange Talk. The band has a lot of good songs (including “Eskimo Boy”) but “Climbing Walls” is a formidable track with a vibrant video to match.
Every time I watch the video and listen to the song, I feel like just dancing around and daydreaming about hot men, summer breeze, lemonade, and happiness. Yup, pretty simple. It’s just one of those songs that can turn a cold depressing day into a vibrant explosion of colorful inspiration. It makes you just want to get up and go create!
Like I said, it’s a song that came out in 2010 but it’s still relevant. The tune is so catchy, and the video is just so colorful! Everyone needs a splash of color in their lives, but they don’t know how to get it. So if you’re feeling sad or cold, then turn up your speakers and bug out to the sounds of Strange Talk’s hit song “Climbing Walls.”
Oh, and after you’ve bugged out to “Climbing Walls” then wind down with the mellow sounds of “Eskimo Boy.”

I used to always tell myself that one day I was going to fall in love with a Black guy from London that has crazy hair and this amazing artistic style. I’m so serious. I used to daydream about moving off to London, getting immersed in the music scene, and meeting this artsy guy with a name like Felix. He’d be a member of some cool band, and on the side he’d paint massive works of arts on canvas lying around his industrial loft. Ah, too bad that’s just a dream….
I’ve got a weakness for artistic men(duh, because I’m extremely artistic) that express themselves through music or art. A majority of the successful relationships I’ve had have been with guys that were artists, skaters, musicians, and technology geeks. But I’ve yet to madly fall in love and have a long term relationship with a guy that could easily be a member of an awesome funk/rock band called The Thirst.
The Thirst is a funky rock band from London that is made up of four artsy guys that have a style of their own, and a unique sound that makes their free downloadable EP Laugh With Sinners so popular in the indie music circuit. The band has been making quite a name for themselves over in the UK. Many have said that their shows are perhaps the best amongst the indie bands that are currently hitting the UK scene.
Sadly, I don’t live in London or have access to hopping a flight and going over there anytime soon. I’d probably go insane if I saw one of their shows live. I told you, artistic men with crazy hairstyles are my weakness. And if they don’t have a big fro or zany hairstyle, then the fact they express themselves to the fullest in the arts is still a major plus. Guys in business suits are fine and all, but at the end of the day I still
love a creative soul. If he happens to have a diverse taste in music, fashion, and cuisine, then sign me up for a relationship. The Thirst is a band that has good music, but the guys are weirdly hot. But the most important thing is that their music is really really good, like uber good.
The band’s latest video “Set it Alight” just debuted and it has the guys showing off their avant-garde artistic expression, while performing an energetic track that gives you a sense of The Thirst and their funk-rock fusion. It’s really hard not to like this song, unless you’re just totally immune to good music. The song has the right balance of rock and funk, without going overboard in either direction. It’s just right.
Check out the video below and be sure to download your free copy of their EP Laugh With Sinners.
