10 Places Where Poetry Hides in My Life

hidden_animalsPoetry is everywhere in our lives, we just have to slow it down and find the poetic beauty of each moment. There are 10 Places that come to mind in which poetry hides in my life. How about you? Where does poetry hide in your life? Feel free to comment and share your poetic discoveries. :)

  1. The crackling sound of wood popping in the old fireplace.
  2. Sounds of fingers pushing on the keys, as my mom and I sit next to each other on our laptops while watching HGTV.
  3. Between the cold, crystal ice, dropped in a tall glass of summer brewed ice tea.
  4. Clutching the video game controller.
  5. Between the layers of a ham off-the-bone and a swiss cheese sandwich.
  6. The churning sound of the treadmill motor.
  7. The vibrant laughter ringing throughout the house.
  8. Between the drops of rain, falling from the beautiful Maryland trees that seemingly could touch the sky.
  9. Perusing YouTube and finding unique videos to place on my expression corner, my blog.
  10. Getting lost in the atmospheric sounds of intoxicating house music.

A Roof Over Your Head

I just switched to a different hotel today. The past three weeks I’ve been in living in a hotel since moving back to Colorado, and hopefully by the end of this month or early December we (my parents + me) will move into an apartment. But right now it’s cheaper to save up the money we’ve got coming in and the hotel is pretty affordable, about the same cost of rent here except without having to pay all the utilities and first months + security deposit to move into a place.

All this transitioning and watching a lot of HGTV has made me daydream about getting situated and what it would be like to one day actually own a house. Moving around from place to place is something I do a lot, but maybe one day I’d actually find a place to call home and have the money to build that custom dream house.

It would be nice to think that you can easily just build a dream home, but in my daydream of building the perfect house, I never actually wonder about the building process. What all goes into making that dream house? It’s more than just a blueprint  you’ve got to have an idea for the design, the materials, and the contractors you’ll entrust with crafting you dream home.

Well if I ever had to make that house a reality, I’d have two requirements: a pool and a nice roof. Of course who doesn’t want a  lovely pool in their background, but how about a roof? Everyone needs a roof over their head and it doesn’t have to be a boring cookie-cutter roof.

There are so many different styles to pick from, and if you’re in the state of Illinois, you’ll probably want to make sure that roof is wind resistant. And if wind is not your concern, then in general, you’ll need to find contractors that can get the job done for an affordable cost. Well then, you should check out Benefit Roofing.  Click the following link to find out more info: http://www.benefitroofing.com/

From shingle roofs, cedar shake roofs, and so much more. Benefit Roofing has got your covered! And trust me, they are quite affordable. So if you live in the Chicago or Illinois region, and are in search of a “roof over your head” then check the out and see what they’ve got to offer.

Total Glamazon | Rocking DC Comics Wonder Woman Chucks

I feel like I haven’t touched my blog in decades! I’ve been so busy doing projects for other people, but now I’m back to doing what I love the most, writing on my blog.

Today has been a pretty good day so far now that I decided to really search my heart and go for my passion, art & interior design. The past few days I’ve been struggling with my passion, but I realized that I’m never going to stop my first love, art. Yet I want to intertwine that with my eye for interior design and my obsession with HGTV, so I figured I needed some inspiration to recover from the burden I’ve felt freelancing on so many projects. So, I bought myself a pair of DC Comic Wonder Woman Chucks.

I figured I’d at least treat myself from the earnings I made while freelancing, so the first thing that came to might was finding a pair of Wonder Woman related apparel. So when I ran across the shoes on Journeys.com, I immediately grabbed my card and bought the shoes right away. No shame to my game, I wear a women’s size 11.5, mainly a 12. So that in Converse size comes out to a Mens 10/Womens 12. But hey, I am an Amazon woman, so what do ya expect? No size 9 over here.

Now to my shoes came, I feel so spectacular. I really look up to the image of Wonder Woman and I’ve begun this obsession with collecting things Wonder Woman related. She is just such a powerful inspiration to me, especially in those moments of life when I’m feeling a little down or just out of place. Wonder Woman instills this strength in me, and I guess as geeky Amazon, I hold that strength close to my heart.

So the shoes are kind of more than just shoes to me. But aside from the sentimental aspect and deeper meaning, seriously…how badass are these shoes?! I have to give props to the design team over at Converse and DC Comics. They really came up with a sleek design that still has that oldschool Converse vibe, yet is ultra dope with a new school spin on the classic image of Wonder Woman. It’s timeless, yet insanely fresh.

What else can I say? I’m a geek. I’m proud of being a geek, and I’m also an Amazon woman standing at about 6ft tall. But don’t be mistaken or think the height is something to be weary of (unless you piss me off,) because at the end of the day I’m a gentle Glamazon that just wants to be geeky chic, borderline fabulous on occasion.

I heard this song a few days ago on Pandora and I love it! I’m a fan of RuPaul, so I couldn’t help singing along to it. I love the lyrics!!!!!!

Geek Chic Decor | Marvel Comics Retro Love Comic Murals

I haven’t drawn anything in quite some time so last night I figured it would be nice to draw superheroes & comic related art. If I had to choose between drawing superheroes or beautiful fashion related sketches (which I love drawing,) hands down I’d chose powers over fabrics any day.

So after gathering all my materials (pencils, eraser, and sketch book) I began perusing the Web in search of some inspiration. I found some awesome things, but in the midst of my search I ran across the most amazing thing I have ever seen; series of large murals featuring retro Marvel comics.

Some of the artwork actually comes in a few sizes, but a majority of the artwork come in a large mural format. I know it’s geeky to want to have Marvel comic themed artwork in your living room, but I’ve got to admit the Marvel Comics Retro Love Comic Murals are far from geeky. It’s this innovative pop art expression, and I’m a big fan of pop art & retro loved themed comic panels, so I’m totally going to buy one or two murals.

The murals range from $124 to $279 (the one to the right cost that much because it’s 96″ x 96″).  Even if you’re not a fan of the loved themed ones, then you can also check out some of the awesome Marvel Comic murals that featuring some amazing superheroes. There are so many different options to choose from, so the best thing to do is visit the website & began bookmarking the ones you want to buy.

Art.com & AllPosters.com both sale these murals, so click the links below to browse the selection. It’s so geeky yet very chic! It’s the perfect wall art solution for a geek-chic female who wants to take her modern apartment & add a retro vibe. It’s also great for guys that love their bachelor pads and want to show off a passion for Marvel without going over board like Steve Carrell’s room in the 40-year-old Virgin. It’s a nice balance of geek decor infused with modern edge that make its super cool.

So to all my fellow geeks & nerds out there, if you want to show off your style without going overboard, then I suggest you check out these murals and find one or two that suit your taste. What’s the point in having geek tendencies if you don’t get to show them off in your living space? I love comic book artwork, so you know I have to show it off my living space. If I’ve learned anything from my years of watching HGTV, I’ve learned it’s important to show off your personality. Now that’s the beauty of decorating. Bits & pieces of you should be incorporated in your design. So if you’re geeky, then show it off!
