‘Community’ Hits a Home-Run with ‘Law & Order’ Inspired Episode [Full Episode]

One of the many reasons I watch Community, is because perhaps it reminds me of the few semesters I attended community college. There was always this unrelenting atmosphere of attempting to make community college “spirit-filled,” but majority of people just wanted to get their classes done and go home. There usually isn’t anything really exciting community college, which is due to the lack of football teams, parties, and a wide range of academic opportunities you typically find at a four-year college.

Yet, NBC’s Community still does a great job of reminding us that two-year colleges can still be a lot of fun, especially if you have Troy and Abed as your classmates. And on the latest episode, the crew relied on some inspiration from Law & Order to take the simple task of figuring out who smashed their potato, and going on this in-depth investigation that could have easily been an episode of Law & Order.

I really liked the episode, and I actually kept laughing at so many points. It was great! Usually Community has it’s hits and misses with me on a comedic level, but I was pleasantly pleased with the episode, which was titled “Basic Lupine Urology.”

The D.E.N.N.I.S System

If you read my blog on the regular, then you know I love house music. But you may not know how much I seriously love Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

This season so far has been hilarious! It’s one of those shows that it’s just hard for me to hate, and I can watch old episodes over and over again & still laugh as if it’s my first time seeing that episode. The characters have this amazing ability to act off each other, which is quite fascinating considering that Charlie is actually married to the waitress in real life (on the show she hates Charlie b/c he stalks her,) Dee is actually married to Mac in real life (yet they pretend to hate each other so much) and Dennis is actually married to the pharmacist from the “D.E.N.N.I.S System” episode.

If you haven’t heard of the D.E.N.N.I.S System, then you must have been sleeping under a rock.

Ah, so let’s talk about the D.E.N.N.I.S System. Two seasons ago the gang decided to take some advice from Dennis (who thinks he’s a ~~love~~ sex expert) and learn how to basically bang chicks and have a successful “erotic conquest.” LOL…a mess. I mean you’d think the gang would be able to maneuver themselves through dating, but apparently their dating lives are as screwed up as their daily life at the bar (which is why the gang always gets into some crazy situations in order to make life fun.) So in attempt to at least find some chicks to have sex with, Dennis decided to step up to the plate and show them how it’s done.

The goal to winning a woman’s heart according to Dennis is to:

D.- Demonstrate Value

E.- Engage Physically

N.- Nurturing Dependence

N.-Neglect Emotionally

I.- Inspire Hope

S.- Separate Entirely

As usual, Dennis’ plans never work. He sucks at successfully getting a woman into bed, let alone getting their number and keeping their interest. He is so cocky! His big ego is what makes his scenes so funny because he constantly thinks that he is a ladies man, but then ends up talking too much and creeping the women out. So his D.E.N.N.I.S System is of course yet another failed attempt at winning a woman’s heart. The system just falls apart completely, which is kind of what happens in real life. People come up with these games/tactics to win someone’s heart( or to just bang em,) but a lot of their tactics end up falling apart or not working on every person they encounter.

Whenever I meet a guy that seems to be pulling some type of game/system, I always think to myself “Ah, The D.E.N.N.I.S System.” It’s not like I go confront the guy or start tripping, but I just end up having a huge laugh to myself thinking about the system and how hilarious that episode was. Instead of just genuinely trying to get to know someone, men & women tend to get caught up in these “systems” in order to accomplish some type of goal. Why must we have a system & games? Can’t we just let it be a natural process and go with the flow? I don’t like premeditated situations, I prefer things happening by chance.

But I will admit that I do think it’s so funny when someone tries to pull off some type of system such as The D.E.N.N.I.S System and it becomes an epic fail. It’s not good for your blood pressure to sit and stress out over the stupid shit people do, so just sit back and laugh at it. The next time someone tries to come to me with all this swag and major game that is obvisouly a broken record on repeat, I’ll most likely just begin cracking up at the thoughts of Dennis trying to teach the gang how to properly use the “system.” Ah, such an awesome episode! It’s so wrong, but so horribly right. Systems & tactics don’t work. Be yourself. That’s the best way to get what you really want.
