I’m a big fan of singer/songwriter Stee Downes and I’m glad that he sent me his latest tribute to Daft Punk. Taking his song “Want You In My Soul,” Stee cooked up a nice Daft Punk Version that you’ll surely want to check out. It’s good that Daft Punk edge, but the soulful vocals of Stee make it oh so smooth!
Give it a listen!
In the mood for some electro groovin’? If so, then check out this bangin’ EP from Fools Gold Records’ artist, Oliver. Simply titled, Mechanical, this EP is a massive non-stop electro groove that could easily be an 80s sci-fi soundtrack.
If you love Daft Punk, then you’ll love Oliver and his EP Mechanical.
My favorites? “Control” and “MYB”
If you haven’t been living under a rock, then you know that German electronic music producer, Boys Noize, digitally released his third studio album Out of the Black earlier this week.
The album has been pretty good acclaim so far and a few fans were actually delighted by the few tracks featuring Snoop Dogg and Los Angeles underground rapper Gizzle. The album has an edgy Daft Punk type electronic sound that makes Boys Noize such a smashing success, but surprisingly enough his more melodic single “ICH R U” is actually really good!
“ICH R U” is a softer electronic side of Boys Noize we don’t get too often, but it’s nice to have a fresh track with an even more fresh + innovative music video. Yup, that’s right. Not only is the track awesome, but the music video for “ICH R U” features a computer keyboard inspired world, including a DJ made out of computer keys.
It’s not often that I see music videos with characters and objects made out of computer keys, so I was quite impressed when I first hit play. The video rocks! Yes, the song is more melodic than you’d expect from Boys Noize, but it works. It’s a fun song with a cool fun video that will surely have your inner geek daydreaming about a DJ made out of keys, a disco ball made from keys, and the ultimate celebration of geekiness. Simply put, computers rock.
I’ve been waiting about two weeks for Flight Facilities to release their new song“With You” featuring Grovesnor. The duo gave us a teaser of the song and a short 30 second glimpse of an animated video reminiscent of Megatron, Daft Punk, and Astroboy. But the video just left fans (especially me) anxious to finally hear the full track; you can’t tease people with such a tantalizing sub bass.
Usually I don’t get overly excited about a track and it’s impending video release, but Flight Facilities never fails to amaze me. I’ve loved their high quality production skills which infuse hints of house, funk, and vibes of a little electropop. And their track “With You” featuring Grovesnor is oh so funky, yet still soulfully driven by that hint of house.
Not only is the track a delight, but the lyrics and video are pretty cool. Animator Ben Drake apparently spent almost four months working on the animation, which derives inspiration from Daft Punk, Astroboy, and Megatron. The video tells the story of a Cyborg that falls in love with a woman who is married (which is actually the wife of the scientist who created him,) and then the two must flee, going somewhere to get away because as the song says, “I just can’t be seen with you.”
If you’re a fan of Flight Facilities, then I’m sure you’ll love the video. Check out the official video below for “With You” featuring Grovesnor, as well as the following remixes: With You extended 12″, MAM remix , Danny Daze 5am Remix, and the David August Remix.
