If you’ve watched films, promos, commercials, or listened to the radio in the past few years, then you’ve without a doubt heard the infamous track “We Speak No Americano.” Even if you had no idea who it was by, you can immediately recognize it’s unique beat and lyrics “We Speak No Americano.”
Hopefully, in the midst of hearing the song non-stop in the international music stream, you took time out to
actually get to know the music of Yolanda Be Cool.
Yolanda Be Cool is this insanely cool production duo from Australia. In the past I blogged about “We Speak No Americano” and “Le Bump” featuring Crystal Waters, but I don’t think I’ve really expressed to you the main reasons why I love Yolanda Be Cool. So in celebration of their new bangin’ new single “Change” featuring Nola Darling and their forthcoming album, “Ladies and Mentalmen,” I figured it would be appropriate (as well as fun) to list the reasons why I love Yolanda Be Cool.
So let’s get down to business!
Alright, that’s all I really have. I could wreck my brain trying to come up with more reasons why Yolanda Be Cool rocks, but you should already know that they are just insanely dope. So if you haven’t checked out their latest single “Change,” then you should do so now!
Ladies and gentlemen, I’m proud to announce the return (seems they’ve been on musical hiatus) of Melbourne electro-pop band, Strange Talk. It’s been quite some time since I first heard their single “Climbing Walls” and fell in love with the colorful music video + awesome song, but I’m glad the band is working on a return with a forthcoming debut album.
It’s not like they have been missing in action, but the band has been mainly pumping out some really good remixes. I love the remixes, but I’ve been hungry for some original tracks from Strange Talk. However, the news of a debut album in the works surely does ease my mind.
The debut album is slated for release sometime in early 2013, but the electro-pop band has graced us with their new single “Cast Away.” The single is just a small taste of what to expect on Strange Talk’s debut album, and I must say I’m loving what I’m hearing thus far. I look forward to hearing more tracks in the future from this awesome Melbourne electro-pop band; Strange Talk is back!
Do you have a weekend anthem? Or perhaps a playlist of songs that get you ready to enjoy the weekend?
Well, I’m not sure about y’all, but I find that having a weekend anthem and/or playlist truly helps. It’s my “go-to” music for getting the weekend started.

My playlist currently includes:
Those are just a few of the many songs I listen to. And now I have a new song to add to the list: Tiësto & Wolfgang Gartner ft. Luciana ‘We Own The Night.’
You can never go wrong with Tiësto; he’s a EDM legend. So when I first heard this song about two weeks ago, I had to add it to my Friday night ritual: get dressed, do my hair, add a little makeup, and dance around the house before grabbing the car keys and hitting the road so I can “own the night.”
There is nothing I love more than getting lost in the sounds of EDM, being surrounded by friends, and dancing the night away. It’s such an awesome feeling to say, “We Own The Night.”

Ever since hearing the infectious swing vibe of “We No Speak Americano,” I’ve been a huge fan of Yolanda Be Cool. The duo is made up of Australian producers Sylvester Martinez and Johnson “Durango Slim” Peterson, and they are well known for rocking the dance floors with their swing house track “We No Speak Americano.”
I grew up on swing music. I’m always watching the old classic films and I’m just amazed out the dance movements. In actuality, swing is on my list of dance classes I’d like to take (I also want to learn some Latin dance moves.) Hopefully within the next year I’ll be in the space to actually sign up, take a class, and commit to learning the movements. But until that day comes, I just keep doing the Charleston around the house and pointing my fingers in a jazzy-snazzy way.
“We Speak No Americano” is definitely one of those tracks by Yolanda Be Cool that I enjoy pretending to swing dance to, but their latest single “Le Bump” is a track that you can seriously dance to. It may not be as catchy as “We No Speak Americano,” but I love the vocals of Crystal Waters. I’m a huge Crystal Waters fan, and she lives in Washington, D.C., so I got to show some love. I’ve blogged about her music in the past, and I’m glad that she is making the effort to do some new music. I missed her presence on the scene, so it’s nice she’s working on music.
And what better way to get back in the scene than teaming up with Yolanda Be Cool for “Le Bump.” The track might not be as catchy as “We No Speak Americano,” but I still love it. It’s a great song! It has that jazzy swing house ring to it, and the video that accompanies it is very jazzy. Actually, the song has two music videos. But they decided to release yet another new music video today, and I like this one better than the first. This one actually has a lot more dancing! After watching the video I’m seriously thinking about just finding some swing lessons. But the moves in the video are crazy complicated swing techniques, but it would still be cool to learn more than what I know now.
But it would be nice to have a partner to “Le Bump” with…lol. So I might need to work on finding a sexy dance partner first.
