Sentences of Summer

So I was watching television with my mom last night, and she thought it would be a cool idea to talk about what I did this summer in sentences, as well as revelations I’ve discovered.  Of course, some of the things I’ve experienced thus far require more than a sentence, but that’s the fun of putting this post together.

So….here we go! My summer thus far:

Went to the Smithsonian Natural Museum of History.

Drove 80mph trying to escape two semi-trucks that I was stuck between (truck sandwich!)

Saw a totally refurbished and working Delorean.

Interracial dating is beautiful, spread the love.

Apparently, I have a fetish for exotic looking men, especially with beards and a sort of “pirate” mixed with tribal look.

Accepted the fact that hey, I have PCOS + Boutonniere deformity (reason why my right fingers don’t go straight)

Realized I could be a good girlfriend, even when someone seriously couldn’t get their life together.

Took part in a long distance relationship.

Dumped my boyfriend, realizing I prefer to be single at the age of 21.

Discovered freedom.

Took a Tequila shot (I promise, it was only one) ;)

Saw a giant roach on the sidewalk face-off with a friend.

Met a random girl from an ivy league school (she read my blog) and invited her to party with me and my friends.

Kissed an El Salvadorian guy while it was 101 degrees outside.

Maceo Plex is amazing!

Conquered my addiction to Call of Duty, no need to play it every day, every other day will suffice.

Always saying too much on a date, but realizing my eccentric personality makes me beautiful.

I’m confident, not cocky…yet if that’s how some choose to label me, then fine by me.

Joined Planet Fitness.

Lost weight and can wear a size 12 Calvin Klein Dress.

New favorite color, electric blue.

Government job and corporate 9 to 5 isn’t for me.

I can’t stand pompous men, go somewhere else with your government job and designer threads.

Danced the night away with a tall African man (Red Fridays, I’m always there dancing.)

A nice DJ walked me all the way to my car after his set.

Made an amazing best friend (taking our first roadtrip together to NYC today.)

Reconnected with old friends, made new ones.

Realized that house is truly the love of my life.

House is the truth.

I can’t live without house.

While sitting in the car with my bestie, we saw a rat walk down the sidewalk with a piece of bread.

Okcupid isn’t too bad, fun for mingling. My profile: http://www.okcupid.com/profile/Jazei

I have huge thighs, but apparently (according to one of my dates) I have massive muscular quads, and that is surely sexy.

Ran outside in my bra and shorts while a massive storm was taking place.

Saw The Avengers twice, or was it three times?

Found a new favorite spot on sundays in DC, Sunglass Sundays.

Lastly, I cut off all my hair and decided it’s a new day and a new me.

Hmmm…that’s all I’ve got far. Needless to say, it’s been an interesting summer. I’ve truly enjoy the good house music, meeting tons of new people, and ending a relationship that just wasn’t right for me (luckily it was only for two months.)

At the end of the day, my summer might not have involved traveling the world or going to a theme park (summer isn’t over yet, so maybe I will get to go,) but my summer does involve finding true friendship, realizing what makes me beautiful, and learning not to care what anybody thinks.

Awesomesauce | Exclusive 4 Min Super Preview for ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’

So far it seems like The Avengers is surely going to be the biggest film of the year. I’ve already seen it twice and I can see why it’s made almost 4 billion and counting in revenue. The film just had all the components of comedy, action, great acting, special effects, and overall it was just one of the best movies I’ve seen this year. It’s hard to measure how the other films this summer are going to stack up in comparison to The Avengers.

I’m not sure how well Prometheus, The Dark Knight, and The Amazing Spider-Man will do at the box office, but so far the trailers and exclusives for each film have been promising.

One of the most promising clips I’ve seen is the exclusive 4 minute super preview for The Amazing Spider-Man. I was already planning on seeing the film, but the exclusive super preview sealed the deal for me. There is no way I’m missing out on seeing The Amazing Spider-Man. It just looks really really good.

I doubt it will beat The Avengers in revenue at the box office, but it still could be a big summer movie. Check out the exclusive 4 minute super preview below. You think it’s going to be a box office hit?

‘The Dark Knight Rises’ Trailer #3 Reveals Details on the Epic Conclusion

Summer is right around the corner!!!! The Avengers comes out on Friday and I’m totally going to be there for that midnight showing. It’s a great way to kick off the summer and get in the superhero vibe. Then on Saturday I’ll follow it up by going to the Free Comic Book Day.

I’m looking forward to a festive summer filled with geeky rants, new travel adventures, making new friends, and of course, seeing how in the world The Dark Knight Rises will conclude. As summer gets closer, more information surrounding the film is being revealed. And you know how Hollywood is. They always release a bunch of trailers for a movie, but usually each trailer shows off something new.

Trailer #3 gives us an insight on what we can expect in the epic conclusion of the Christopher Nolan Batman series. In the trailer we get to see Bane (and you can actually understand him through his mask,) Anne Hathaway as the seductive Catwoman, the oh so adorable Joseph Gordon-Levitt (500 Days of Summer,) and of course, Christian Bale (who is irresistibly sexy) doing his thing as The Dark Knight.

But of course, the trailer does have the action I love, the awesome Batmobile, and this dark vibe of intriguing mystery waiting to be unraveled. After watching this third trailer, I just don’t want to watch anymore trailers; I want to go straight to the movie and enjoy the entire film right now. But I’ll have to wait for the July 20th release date.

So until then, I guess I’m just going to have to watch for any new TV spots and of course, read articles about what else to expect in the film.

Awesomesauce | The Avengers 1978 Movie Promo [1952 Trailer + 2012 Trailer]

Dude and dudettes, I’m super stoked for the May 4th release of The Avengers. OMFG, I can’t wait!!! I’m just looking forward to seeing my favorite characters, especially Thor, Iron Man, and Hulk kick some major ass. It’s probably going to be such an epic movie, that I might have to see it twice (I saw X-Men First Class 3 times.)

I know I’m not the only geek out there that is almost drooling everyone they see the trailers and TV spots, so I’m glad to know that someone decided to have a little bit of fun and make a The Avengers ’78 Movie Promo.

The trailer is oh so old school. It’s weird to watch this fake trailer for a movie that was never made, then to go watch the high-def and super badass trailers for the upcoming The Avengers. But I surely have to say I enjoyed watching the genius editing and mashup work of The Avengers ’78 Movie Promo. Plus, I used to love watching Hulk and seeing him telling Mr. McGee “don’t make me angry.” Since my last name is McGee, I used to always crack up at that line.

Oh, and there is also a trailer for what The Avengers would look like if the movie was made back in the 50s. Haha, weird right? Yeah, I couldn’t wrap my head around that, but it still cool to watch.

Check out Earth’s Mightiest Heroes below and see what they would look like in the 70s, 50s, and of course just because I’m super stoked, I’m going to post the 2012 trailer. Such a geek!

It’s Official, Samuel Jackson Has the Art of Playing “Evil” Down to a Science

It amazes me how Samuel Jackson can continuing staying in the acting game, and constantly playing roles that give him the chance to do what he does best; telling people to shut the hell up and basically stressing the importance of how he expects things to go, his way.

I’m a huge fan of Samuel Jackson, and I love how he always has these “seriously, shut up, let me give a speech” moments in his films. Usually he speeches are pretty good, but I’m not going to lie, his speech in Deep Blue Sea, followed by getting eaten by the shark, always cracks me up. He was just so cantankerous! But then again, that’s what Samuel does best, playing a cantankerous bad ass who gets the job done. So when I first saw the trailer for Meeting Evil, I knew it was about to be on like Donkey Kong!!

Prior to seeing the trailer for Meeting Evil, I was only expecting to see Sam Jackson do his thing as Nick Fury in The Avengers. But watching Meeting Evil, a film based off the crime-thriller by Chris Fisher, truly showed off a dark & sinister side of Samuel. The film co-stars Luke Wilson, who is basically known for his roles at that happy go-lucky guy or the boyfriend who just can’t seem to get it right. The funny thing, Luke knows that he is typecast, and in an interview with IFC.com, he explains why he decided to take the role in Meeting Evil. Click here to read that interview, it’s pretty good!

So, let’s get down to what I’ve learned from watching Meeting Evil. Well for starters, Samuel Jackson scares me. After watching Meeting Evil, I realized that he does too good of a job playing evil. Seriously, he’s got it down to a science. I mean I knew he had it in him to be really rough around the edges, but in Meeting Evil he just plays this sick, twisted, and extremely insane evil guy that just decides to terrorize Luke Wilson, yet doesn’t actually try to kill him.

Towards the end of the movie, you sort of see this twist unfold in which we learn the truth upon why Samuel decides to terrorize Luke and essentially f*** up his day. But prior to the revelations at the end of the movie, you have to sit still and go on this rollercoaster ride of Sam Jackson killing people, letting out sinister laughs, and rationalize that he just wants to be Luke’s friend. No harm in that, right? Wrong!!! Samuel’s character, whose name is Richie, idea of friendship is basically murdering people that might potentially upset Luke. And if they haven’t upset Luke or possibly might do harm by saying something rude, then Richie just decides to murder them anyways. He enjoys killing, something he surely leaves off job applications when asked about his hobbies.

From the get-go, the movie brings the thrill. From the sinister close-ups of Sam Jackson to the maniacal rationalizations, the character Richie keeps the momentum of thrill rolling. It’s one of those movies that is quite murderous in it’s overall message, but you can’t help but to watch it and see how the story will end.

The film won’t hit theatres until May 4th, which is the same day The Avengers hits theatres. But if you happen to be a Comcast subscriber, like myself, then you can watch the film On Demand. If you like crime thrillers or seeing Samuel Jackson be the ultimate sinister bad ass, then you should totally watch Meeting Evil.

The Avengers Assemble in Brand New Trailer

If I thought my week couldn’t get any better, well I was wrong, it just got a million times better. You may be asking yourself, why? Or you’re just scanning to the bottom of this post to see why it got better. Well let me explain what happened. No, I didn’t find true love or become a Super Saiyan (still awaiting that glorious day,) but something more epic happened; Marvel UK released a brand new trailer for the upcoming film The Avengers.

You know I’m a geek, and you also know that I’m madly in love with superheroes. My background on Twitter (follow me @thinksoul25) is the ultimate collection of Marvel characters. My favorite thing to draw is superheroes, and some days I like to lay down on my bed, close my eyes, and daydream about having powers (yeah, I’m a geek…I know.) So when I first found out last year that they were releasing a movie about the Avengers, I almost passed out. Then the trailer came out, and I was speechless watching it over & over again.

So now Marvel releases yet another brand new trailer for The Avengers, and this time it’s quite the epic experience. We actually get to see the Avengers assembling in order to fight this enemy threatening the global safety. Not only do we get to see glimpses of each Avenger being recruited, but the trailer ends with an awesome shot of the Avengers standing in a circle getting ready to unleash major damage; such an amazing shot!

I was already stoked about this film, but now I’m uber anxious for May 4th to arrive. The Avengers and Rise of the Dark Knight are probably going to be two films I can’t wait to see this year. I might even have to see them over & over again. I saw X-Men: First Class over and over again (about 4 times,) so I know The Avengers is going to be one of those films I have to watch again, again, and then yes, once more for the sake of humanity!
