Album Review | Futuristic Definitely Knows How to ‘Dream Big’

Do you have a morning anthem? You know, that song you listen to every single morning in order to have the strength to conquer the day. Or perhaps you’re like me and have a few songs in rotation. Whether it be one song or a few, I think every one (especially music junkies) needs to have an anthem they listen to every morning (or at least some point in the day.)

Currently my morning playlist consist of some of my favorite house tracks, but upon hearing Futuristic’s new album Dream Big, I think I might have stumbled upon my new morning anthem; Futuristic’s album entitled song “Dream Big.” Like seriously dude, dream big! How much better of a morning anthem can you find? It’s surely a track that will appease the hip-hop lovers, but then it’s also a nice inspirational track that even the non-hip-hop fans can enjoy.

And for those of you worried that it might be another rapper attempting to sing his own chorus in order to impress the ladies (which is usually a fail when rappers who can’t sing try to,) don’t be worried. Futuristic is not only extremely talented, but he is musically wise. Instead of attempting to sing a chorus and parading around a with big ego saying “I do everything by myself” like most rappers do, he actually worked with vocalist Jerrin Jaramillo (present on other tracks as well) to make “Dream Big” a nice fusion of hip-hop with an R&B vibe.

“Dream Big” is a pretty awesome track, but it’s just the start of an even more collection of awesomesauce. Every track on Futuristic’s album Dream Big brings something unique to the entire project. The production by AKT Aktion is pure perfection! You’ve got a mixture of tracks with a chill hip-hop vibe, to tracks such as “Fuck You Mean” which can totally be a banger.  Futuristic even goes hip-hop/rock with his track “Can’t Handle Me,” another great track on his album that has Futuristic dropping his usual witty & swag driven rhymes.

After listening to each track on the album, I can honestly say that I think Futuristic could easily make it big. I mean he’s already dreaming big, so now all he needs to do is make it big. He’s got quite a knack for being versatile in his delivery as well as his subject matter, and you know that’s definitely a good thing. I can’t stand when rappers just always release an ignorant conglomerate of tracks, but Futuristic switches it up. He can be outlandishly raw to the point where you have to rewind his lyrics & laugh at his epic absurdities (check out his track “Reviews”), but then he can still be fresh & clean with some lyrics that don’t ensue laughs (always good laughter when listening to Futuristic,) but tracks that inspire provocative thought.

So at the end of the day, I have to say that I’m totally in love with Futuristic’s new album Dream Big. And coming from someone that barely bothers to listen to hip-hop nowadays due to the lack of creativity and the brain freeze lyrics on the radio, it’s impressive that his album actually caught my attention longer than a few minutes. It’s good music. No complaints from me. So what are you guys waiting for? Go listen to his album & download it! Seriously, are you still waiting? Go….now!

New Music | Futuristic – F*ck You Mean (Official Music Video)

I know that I’m a huge house fanatic, but every now and then I’ll throw on some hip-hop & chill out. But if you’ve read my blog in the past, you know I’m all about finding artists that aren’t quite famous, but they have music that is worth checking out. Sidenote: Remember, if you happen to be a musician, filmmaker, designer, etc and have something worth showing to the world, then feel free to send it my way & I will blog on. Email me at: askmethink25@hotmail.com

Okay, now that we’ve covered that, lets get back to topic of this post, Futuristic. So since I’m always running across new artists, you might recall that not too long ago I wrote about Futuristic (Mr I Had To Do It), an upcoming rapper from Arizona. He’s had the opportunity to share the stage with MGK, Yelawolf, Afroman, E-40, Yung Berg, Sean Kingston, YG, Snoop Dogg, and the New Boyz. He has been making quite the name for himself, and his latest track “F*ck You Mean” is one that you can’t help to listen to it.

The beat is dope! But not only does the song have a good beat, the video is pretty hilarious & as usual Futuristic does his thing with the typical swag that basically resonates with his slogan, “Mr I Had To Do It.” I don’t know what he had to do, but whatever it was…he did it.

Peep the visuals for Futuristic’s “F*ck You Mean” below & be sure to cope his album Dream Big when it drops on February 19th.

Futuristic(Mr I Had To Do It) Remixes Childish Gambino – “Bonfire”

You guys remember that artist Futuristic I wrote about a few days ago? Well you know lately I’ve been listening to a lot of Childish Gambino, and I even blogged about his latest video for his track “Bonfire.” The beat on that song goes so hard! Not only does that song have an insane beat, but Childish Gambino drops some masterful rhymes. It’s currently one of my favorite songs and videos out now, but Futuristic decided to release his remix video for the song. If you’re a fan of “Bonfire” and the video, then you’ve got to check out Futuristic’s “Bonfire (Remix.)”

Instead of just simply giving us a solid remix of the song, Futuristic actually has a music video for the remix. In the original song Gambino is caught up in this summer camp concept and realizes he is actually a ghost, but Futuristic decides to tackle the zombie scenario; in his video you get to see him kick some zombie ass, while still having undeniable swagg. I’ve got admit, I’m a huge fan of the original, but the remix by Futuristic is really good!

Futuristic (Mr I Had To Do It)

Lately I haven’t been listening to a lot of hip-hop except for Childish Gambino (love that guy!), but yesterday I had the opportunity to hear the music of a cool dude named Futuristic. I have a weird taste when it comes to hip-hop, but I love music that is swagged up yet still has this playful vibe. I love it when a rapper doesn’t have to always be so ill serious, yet he can style drop rhymes that will have you pushing repeat.

Futuristic is one of those rappers that has the style I like. His music reminds me of hints of Kid Cudi, Childish Gambino, and The Cool Kids; music that is on point with that swag, but still hilariously dope. That makes sense right? I mean when I think of Futuristic, I think of how on point his swag his, but then his wordplay is just so innovative! He’s able to go hard on a track but still have some verses that will make you laugh because they are so random, yet they are so on point.

Basically, Futuristic is an artist worth checking out. When I first watched his video I immediately wondered if he was from California because his style and the video reminded me of something Pac Div would film, but then I learned that he was actually from Arizona. Futuristic left Illinois and moved to Tempe, Arizona to continue taking his music career to the next level. He has opened up for Willy Northpole, Sean Kingston, and his feature on James Wade’s mixtape Popular Stranger became critically acclaimed. He’s gained a fan base across the country and is continuing to win folks over with his iconic phrase, “Mr I Had To Do It.” The phrase comes from his first album Mr I Had To Do It, and since then it’s become his thing. When you think of Futuristic, you immediately think of “Mr I Had To Do It.” Now how ill is that? Not only is he a lyrical aficionado, but he’s also a branding genius!

If you haven’t heard of Futuristic, well now you’ve officially got the exclusive here on ThinkSoul25.com. Check him out on his official Facebook page at: www.facebook.com/Futuristicihadtodoit and his website:

His latest video “La La La” featuring K.i.D came out not too long ago and it’s a great song with a hilarious video to match. Peep the visuals below!
