Another Grime Favorite: Giggs ft. B.o.B

Giggs is another one of grime’s widely acclaimed rappers, known for rapping in a slow voice and a low tone. If you watched the Tinchy Stryder "Game Over" official video, Giggs is the first rapper featured. He’s the one posted in the Armani Blazer, rapping in a deep voice which compliments the beat. I like music that also uses orchestra instruments and doesn’t solemnly rely on a drum machine. "Dont Go There" is a track by Giggs and it features one of my favorite American rappers, B.o.B. It’s a nice union between English hip-hop and American hip-hop. There is a noticeable different between Giggs and B.o.B, but it works! Check out the video below.

UK Female Rappers on Game Over Remix

I love the original “Game Over” by Tinchy Stryder, but the official remix with the guys and the girl response is legit. The beat exemplifies the essence of grime! Its got the gritty sound, which forces the rapper to just come raw with it. Lyrically those guys are some of the best in the UK hip-hop scene. But the female rapper remix caught me by suprise. I don’t listen to a lot of American female rappers, but it was shocking to see these female UK rappers…and they actually were good! Of course they have that thick UK accent, but their lyrical game is point. I’m loving how they females stepped up to the plate and really represented. That went in hard on the track and I think it was definitely a hit and not a miss. I’m seriously starting to listen to more grime than American hip-hop, it’s really not that bad once you get pass the accent lol.Check out the video’s and see for yourself!

Grime…grime…and um yea more grime!

I’m a huge fan of rappers that rhyme on top of electronic/dance music. That’s probably why I’ve always been a fan of grime music, I’m able to enjoy the lyrics and dance like crazy to an insanely dope beat. When I first listened to grime I really hated it, but it’s grown on me the past few years. Some of accents on certain tracks are still a little too thick for me, but for the most part I’m starting to really like grime. For those of you who read my blog on a regular, you’ve got the sense that my music taste if all over!

Videos below from some of my favorites.

UK Grime is Awesome!

Wiley is GRIME!

Grime is a European musical genre that is influenced by UK  garage, dancehall, electronica, and hip-hop music. I listen to a lot of Grime artists and my top favorite is Wiley. Some American’s get annoyed by the thick English accent, especially Dizzee Rascal’s very thick accent. Wiley is a rapper that you can understand no matter where you are from. He raps about love and sex, money, London, and other issues he thinks are important. If you like electronica music, then it’s worth checking out Grime. You get the best of both words…electronica and hip-hop make a nice marriage on most occasions. My favorite tracks: Take That, Wearing My Rolex,Where’s My Brother.

*I love working out to this song, and the video is pretty cool!

Here’s an interesting documentary on Grime.
