Despite the fact I have a Bachelor degree in English Writing from University of Colorado Denver (class of 2012,) I still struggle with the proper usage of the semicolon. I’ve arrived at the point of no return with most of my sentences, and by then if a semicolon seems right, then I just go for it.
I’m not afraid to admit my love/hate/confusion relationship with the semicolon, but comedy trio The Lonely Island truly have no regrets in their bad grammar. In celebration of YouTube Comedy Week, The Lonely Island have debuted a hilarious new song called “Semicolon” and it features the lovely vocals of Solange.
This explicit track and lyric video, which happens to be one of the first videos not directed by The Lonely Island, shows us all the ”right” ways to use a semicolon. It sounds right to the guys, so they go for it and throw in a semicolon whenever they please. Good idea, wrong usage.
But who cares if it’s grammatically incorrect (which makes it even funnier.) The song is awesome! It’s got a nice rhythm to it and to be honest, it sounds sooooo legit!

Remember rickrolling? Ah, those were the good ol’ days! Viral mania, people sending each other links that appeared to be one thing, but ended up being Rick Astley’s famous, duster-jacket-wearing-sunglasses “Never Gonna Give You Up” music video. Well, move aside rickrolling. Reggie Watts shows us how to get “Reg Rolled.”
Rocking big 80s style sunglasses and the iconic duster that was admired by the gang of It’s Always Sunny and Philly, Reggie Watts does a hilarious parody of “Never Gonna Give You Up” in celebration of YouTube Comedy Week.
Watch the video, it guarantees laughter! It’s nice to see Reggie Watts again. I hope he is working on another comedy special. But what he really needs to do is come back to DC! I loved seeing him live…amazing experience! But for now, getting reg-rolled makes me happy…very happy.
Last night, Kristen Wiig made her triumph return to Saturday Night Live and reminded me that the show was really better when she was a cast member. Even though she was just hosting last night, her presence on most of the skits brought back that energy that a lot of the SNL skits have been missing. Don’t cha think so?
Wiig has been busy transitioning into the roles of movies, but she still has got the perfect comedic timing and characterization that made her such a star on SNL.
With the return of The Californians, she couldn’t even contain her laughter with all the 405 jargon and Rodeo drive nonsense. And in a skit for Mother’s Day, she had a hilarious hell of a time dealing with an annoying mom and buying her 1-800 Flowers. That skit was one I’m sure you’ll relate to, but the best of the night was the return of The Californians and the Lawrence Welk Show.
So yeah, The Californians was the best, but how about the weirdest skit? I’d say the Acupuncture one. Kristen Wiig giving acupuncture and blood squirting uncontrollably. It was grossly hilarious! Oh, and the second weird-but-funny skit was the Disney channel spoof, Ghost Mom. LOL. It’s the Ring meets Disney channel following the hilarious shenanigans of Kristen as a ghost raising Disney-style kids. Check it out!
Not only did Wiig do a knockout job last night, but even a very pregnant Maya Rudolph stopped by to make a few appearances. Overall, it was a hilarious episode that just shed light on the reality that one person can make a show better…and Kristen Wiig makes SNL better! Ugh, I miss her as a regular cast member!
If you love Kristen Wiig, then be sure to watch the skits below! And just in case you are wondering, yes…Target Lady made a return!
Making it’s way online today, the trailer for The World’s End gives us a look at the final film in Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg’s Three Flavours Cornetto trilogy. That’s right, Shaun of The Dead and Hot Fuzz were not only similar in slapstick and British humour, but each of the films featured a scene in which one of the characters purchases a Cornetto flavored ice cream.
Buying ice cream is simple, but if you’ve learned anything from Shaun of The Dead, aside from how to kill zombies by throwing records at their head, then you should know that getting to the pub is never as simple as it sounds. And even if you do make it to the pub, the fight for your life isn’t over. But in Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg’s The World’s End, we learn that zombies aren’t the only thing stopping the guys from getting to the pub…something eerie, out of this world, is happening in this quaint UK town.
Watch the hilarious new trailer for The World’s End below and add it to your list of summer movies; release is scheduled for July 19th (UK) and August 23rd (US.)
Anyone who is familiar with the industry of stand-up comedy (duh, you should be,) knows that most comedians have a “set” of jokes they deliver. While sometimes they come up with new sets, rearrange material, and sometimes throw in the occasional improv, it’s mainly all from memory. However, The Set List is this amazing LIVE show that challenges comedians to come up with an entire set off the top of the dome. Challenging? Yes, especially if the suggested topic is something they don’t know much about.
The show has been running for the past few months, but comedy aficionado and hilarious random British guy, Reggie Watts, tackled the challenge of a “misogynist serenade pretty well. I had the pleasure of seeing Reggie Watts perform live at the 9:30 Club last year, and I must say he is one funny guy that has a great set filled with music, improv, socio-political commentary, and an awesome fro that goes all over the place.
If you’ve never seen him live, then watch this video and get an idea of how awesome his spontaneous creativity truly is!
Unless you truly are unaware of pop culture, then you’d know that Justin Timberlake has been on a roll this past week! From debuting new songs off his upcoming album to last weekend’s appearance on SNL (which I still need to post,) he’s been making sure his name stays in the media circuits. And last night, he truly topped his stellar week off by stopping by Late Night With Jimmy Fallon for the History of Rap Part 4 and a medley of his greatest hits.
Let me just tell you right now, turn up your speakers! Justin and Jimmy did justice to a lot of old rap hits and you’ll find yourself wondering how on earth do these guys do it? It’s quite creative and it’s a great trip down memory lane.
Then you’ve got the amazing jam session of Justin Timberlake and a big band (including back-up singers) going through JT history and playing his greatest hits. It will truly remind you how amazing and awesomely talented Justin Timberlake truly is.
The Harlem Shake craze is getting strong…very strong. It might just be as popular as the “Shit Girls Say” video craze last year. Remember, everyone and their mama was making videos of “Shit [Insert Group of People] Say.” Well, with that phase dead (for now), the next big thing is getting a group of folks together and recreating the original Harlem Shake viral video.
Now, if you haven’t seen the video, then you truly must be anti-web culture or perhaps living under a rock. About a week ago, this guy on YouTube got together with his friends and made a viral video to Baauer’s hit song, “Harlem Shake.” Basically, he has a mask on and is dancing, while his buddies are calm and slightly bouncing. Then when the beat drops they all wild out and just dance like maniacs. It’s pretty awesome.
Yes, the original is awesome…but the viral videos of this internet meme are quite impressive! Everyone is gathering their friends and doing The Harlem Shake. Heck, I need to get my buddies together and film one just because!
Check out some of the videos below. T-Pain even put together a video. The Best Week Ever did one and even Skryim does the Harlem Shake. I’m telling y’all, this trend isn’t going to die anytime soon. I give it a lifespan of a month, maybe 2 months…or longer!
