As usual, I had a blast Friday night at Red Fridays @ U Street Music Hall in Washington, D.C. Every Friday a various DJ(s) spins a nice dosage of house, and last night The Juan Maclean killed it on the decks. He played a variety of deep, tech, and a little soulful house.
Out of all the songs he played, one song made me jump up in down and tell my friends “OMG, I just downloaded this song earlier in the day.” The song I’m talking about is Amine Edge, Dance’s “Going to Heaven with the Goodie Goodies.” I had heard it on a mix I was listening to earlier that day, and I couldn’t help but to listen to it over and over again. So when The Juan Maclean played it during his set, I basically went crazy.
It’s such a dope song! Everything about that song screams dope perfection, and it’s even more amazing dancing to it while the bass is blasting from one of the best sound systems in D.C. (U Street Music Hall has an insane sound system.)
It’s one thing to listen to a song on my computer and iPod dock, but hearing it live and feeling the music move your body is such an awesome experience. Man, I love house!
