God of War: Ascension E3 Gameplay Demo + Multiplayer Mode Preview

Kratos is the truth! I’m a huge fan of God of War, even though I often get frustrated with all the combos and how hard some of the levels can be. Yet, I think I’m totally going to pre-order God of War: Ascension. Not only does the gameplay look quite vicious, but the multiplayer mode looks like it could be a lot of fun.

God of War: Ascension debuted at E3 yesterday and it surprised fans with how promising the multiplayer mode actually looks. On various blogs I’ve noticed some speculation surrounding the prior rumors of the game having multiplayer. Some fans thought it wasn’t a good idea, while others weren’t sure exactly how you would pull that off. Kratos is awesome, so if we aren’t playing online as Kratos, then what character are we controlling?

Well, the crew behind God of War decided to put all the gamers at ease and actually showcase a preview of their multiplayer mode. The mode is called Favor of the gods and you get to work you way from an unknown hero to a hero or demi-god. You get to work with your team and aid in the effort to basically kill a huge beast. Pretty cool, right? If you enjoy playing online (I love playing online with my friends & bf,) then you might want to definitely check out God of War: Ascension.

I don’t think everyone is quite convinced yet on the multiplayer mode, but that’s quite alright. Even if the mode doesn’t live up to expectations (what should we even be expecting?) it’s still worth checking out the game for story mode. The story mode looks quite promising as well and I think fans of God of War might like it. It all really depends on your gaming preference and if you happen to be a fan of Kratos and all the bloody galore. If I may so myself, I’m more into shooting games, but I’m not going to shy away from hours of hardcore combos, bloody guts, and epic aggression. Sounds like awesomesauce.

Quantic Dream, the Makers of Heavy Rain, Debut ‘Beyond: Two Souls’ at E3 2012

So I just want to give y’all a heads up and let you know that a majority of the blog posts today are going to cover some of the awesome videogames coming out in 2012/2013. My fellow geeks and gamers probably know that E3 2012 is currently taking place, and some of the biggest developers and franchises have been debuting new footage of games coming out in 2012/2013. So what does that mean to me? It means I gotta start saving money and marking my calendar with release dates!

So without further delay, lets dive into the most compelling cinematic game that was debuted at E3, Beyond: Two Souls. I first saw the game last night during Sony’s E3 conference, but I actually turned to G4 right in the middle of the trailer. Yet, something about the stylization and the overall characterization clued me in that the game was probably by the makers of Heavy Rain…and I was right.

Quantic Dream, the makers of the compelling PS3 game Heavy Rain, debuted Beyond: Two Souls at E3 in hopes of showing gamers the cinematic storytelling aspect of gaming. Games usually have pretty good plots, graphics, and overall purpose, but Quantic Dream is known for approaching gaming with an in-depth psychologically cinematic delivery.

If you didn’t play Heavy Rain, then perhaps you had the chance to play Indigo Prophecy. That was yet another game by designer David Cage and his company Quantic Dream. I really enjoyed Indigo Prophecy and Heavy Rain, so the trailer for Beyond: Two Souls truly caught my attention.

The game stars actress Ellen Page (Juno, Inception) and it’s a riveting emotionally driven game that explores what happens after we die.

According to CNET, Cage said, “For the first time ever, players will live the life of a video game character over the course of 15 years. They will experience her life and help her to become who she is.”

Sounds interesting. We haven’t seen gameplay yet, but the debut at E3 surely did raise some eyebrows and is putting Quantic Dream‘s Beyond: Two Souls on the radar for games to watch for in 2012/2013.
