Awesomesauce | Sports Beauty [HQ Slow Motion Montage]

I haven’t played any sports in a long time. I mean, I did use to play volleyball from a young age up to high school, but by a series of unfortunate events I got slight boutonniere deformity in my right hand. Now if you Google boutonniere deformity you’ll run across some series cases, but mine isn’t too extreme. Yet, I still can’t full straighten my fingers on my right hand, which makes playing volleyball and controlling the ball a painful experience.

Luckily, I can still stay active and enjoy other activities, but I do plan on taking up a sport again. But even if it takes me some time to figure out what sport I want to play, I can still enjoy watching sports. Ya know, the Summer Olympics are right around the corner, so I’m stoked about that. :)

Yes, I’m anxious to watch the Olympics, but there are other cool sports dedicated visuals out there worth watching as well. One visual that caught my attention is this beautiful HQ slow motion montage of athletes doing what they do best, be amazingly active.

The video is called Sports Beauty and it’s a bunch of awesomesauce visuals set to a beautiful song called “Adagio in D minor (Bombastic)” by John Murphy.

A Summer of Exploration

For the first time in a very long time, I actually have a social life. Not quite sure what happened, but I’m pretty sure it has to do with the fact that summer is here, I’m about to graduate college, and I actually have transportation. I mean of course you can easily get around in the DMV via train and bus, but having a car does make it easier for me to get to folks outside of moco.

Summer is basically here and I’ve already kicked it off by doing some fun things. I saw Reggie Watts in concert, Miguel Migs @ U Street Music Hall, and I even went Rock Climbing @ Earth Trek in Rockville, MD. Let me just, rock climbing was amazing! It basically cost 25 bucks to climb three different walls, but it was still a blast. I’m not terrified of heights, so it wasn’t super scary. I definitely plan on going again this summer. :)

Every weekend has been a blast so far and I’ve really enjoyed hanging out with my good friend. I’m also anxious to hang out with my boyfriend this weekend and give him a tour of D.C. Nothing crazy, just hitting the zoo, the museums, maybe dancing a little, and of course grabbing some frozen yogurt (I got him hooked on it.)

My goal is explore D.C. as much as I can, but this summer isn’t just limited to exploring Washington, D.C. I plan on going on some road trips, visiting the beach, playing paintball, laser tag, and going to some amusement parks. I’m going to try to have as much fun as possible, even working on some film and photography projects. I just want to capture every single moment and create some Facebook worthy pictures to remember the summer.

If I can actually save up enough money then I would even go on a cruise at the end of the summer.  But that isn’t set in stone yet, so for now it’s all speculation. But at least I’m trying to piece together my plans and come up with a great summer filled with exploration and trying new things. So if you notice sometimes I don’t blog for a few days, then it’s because I’m out and about exploring the DMV and the East Coast. But don’t worry, I’ll still come back and share my experiences with you guys. Especially when I find good music. :)

Cheesy, but the perfect song to think of summer….lol

♥ | Defected In The House Radio Show 14.5.12 – Guestmix Sandy Rivera

I’ve been a huge fan of Defected Records for years, and I especially love Defected In The House. I always some great house tracks that get my going, especially when I need to feel pumped up for a workout.

When listening to Defected, you always get this beautiful combination of house. It’s not just strictly soulful or strictly deep, but it’s a unique collection of a variety of sounds that are driven by house.

Can’t recall the last time I actually bought a Defected In The House compilation, but I do listen to the podcasts on a weekly basis.

The latest podcas, a guest mix by Sandy Rivera, really caught my attention. It’s good such a nice vibe to it and if you want to jam to it while working out, you totally can.

MOTIONS: DC’s Monthly Fix of Good Ol’ House Music – Next Party 6/2

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

The pictures above feature Andrew Hogans, Stephanie Cooke, Boddhi Satva, Roland Clark, DJ Oji, DJ Cbreeze, & DJ Baby, Adam Rios, Rick Galactik, Jihad Muhammad, and Miranda Nicole.

I used to think that I’d have to drive all the way to Baltimore once a month for my fix of house, but it seems that there has been a new house music event brewing in D.C. Of course, it’s still nice to make that trek to Charm City and go to Deep Sugar, but for house junkies living closer to the capital, you might want to check out MOTIONS: DC’s Newest Dance Party.

Andrew Hogans & Miranda Nicole

MOTIONS was created by Ernest Fountain (KLUBNUT.COM) and Andrew Hogans(Global Beats Sessions.) The two of them noticed their was a void in

the D.C. dance party scene, and they wanted to bring back the good ol’ dance party vibe on a monthly basis. By using their love for house and good ol’ fashion dance party music, Fountain and Hogans realized that MOTIONS could be that superb combination of fun, house music, laughter, and dancing.

MOTIONS is a place where people of all ages, lifestyles, personalities, and outlooks on life can come together to get their boogie on.

So when and where does MOTIONS take place? Well folks, it’s the first Saturday of every month at Fasil Lounge in Washington, D.C. The party is quickly becoming known for it’s captivating sound; dance the night away to the latest and greatest deep, afro, soulful, and tech house.

The next MOTIONS Party will be June 2, 2012 @Fasil Lounge. The lineup will feature females DJs.  MOTIONS is honored to have Francesca Magliano and DJ Housecat spinning at their next party. Both of the ladies have been recognized for their impeccable DJ skills and their ability to get the party started. While both of them may be female DJS, their journey and love for house music began differently.

DJ Francesca fell in love with DJing while in college, but didn’t actually dream of becoming a premiere DJ spinning along side Quintin Harris, DJ Spinna, Jellybeat Benitez, Louie Vega, and Todd Terry. But her hobby soon turned into a passionate career with over a decade of spinning the addicting sounds of house that have earned her guest sets at NYC clubs such as Happy Valley, Santos, Speed, Sullivan Room, Cielo, Aria, OHM, China Club, and Centro-fly.

She isn’t just a DJ, but she also is a producer known for working on remixes and original tracks. Her latest accolade is her remix of DJ Kent’s “Falling” and Darryl D’bonneau’s “Strong Love.” You can hear more of her mixes here http://djfrancesca.podomatic.com

The second lady spinning at Motions on June 2, 2012 is DJ HouseCat. She first fell in love with house music in 86, but as of 2011 she decided to embark on a career as a DJ. Her internet mixshow “House of Soul” has become a popular show on Cyberjamz Radio (she is partner of the show with Sammy Rock) and house fans have quickly fallen in love with the sounds of DJ HouseCat.

Even though she resides in Hyattsville, Maryland, DJ HouseCat has still made appearances on the web and live-sets. She’s had guest shows on Sweatzone.com, FacetheBasslive.com, and Mixedin.net. She has also made an amazing appearance at the WMC *FEMANCIPATION* party at the Shelley Hotel in Miami. You can also listen to her live set at the Just Heat party in Chicago, which will feature Sammy Rock, Greg Grey, J.R. Jam, DJ Ronnie, and Carla Prather.

But if you can’t make it to Chicago, then no worries. You can stop by MOTIONS @ Fasil Lounge in Washington, D.C. on June 2, 2012 and check out DJ HouseCat and DJ Francesca spinning up a vicious storm of good ol’ house music.
