I’m dying to get my hands on Flight Facilities forthcoming track “With You” featuring Grovesnor. I watched the 30 second teaser for it, and I was just wishing I could speed up time to the May 14th release of the track on Future Classic Records. But in the meantime, I at least can rock out to perhaps one of the best mixtapes I’ve heard in quite some time, 37,000 ft.
Sometimes I wish I actually dated guys that believed in 80s romance and the art of making mixtapes. Of course, it’s not going to be an actual tape, but a cool CD is still nice here and there. I’ve actually made a few mixtapes for exes I’ve dated in the past, but I myself have never gotten one from anyone else.
Yet, if anyone were ever going to give me a mixtape, I would honestly want it to be as epic as 37,ooo ft. The track listing is impeccable! If someone would have given me this mixtape at a gift, I would have probably fallen head over heels for them. I’m serious, this mixtape speaks to my soul!
The mixtape came out a little less than a year ago, but it’s still oh so timeless. If you haven’t noticed by now, this is like my 3rd or 4th time blogging about Flight Facilities. I’m a huge fan of Flight Facilities, and I always knew that there music taste was probably insane. So it’s nice to listen to 37,000 ft and get a sense of what inspires the duo to make epic tunes.
The mixtape does a nice job of bringing together electro pop, disco bravado, snazzy electro grooves, and that hint of pulsating house beats. The mixtape starts off with one of my favorite Talking Heads songs,”This Must Be The Place.”Following the first track, the mixtape is a non-stop show of just epic tunes that are essential to creating the perfect soundtrack of life.
Oh, and did I mention that this mixtape is a free download? Well, it is. So download it! Don’t miss out on the seamless mixing and snazzy tunes that will brighten up your day. This mixtape is a most for EDM lovers who enjoy disco, electro pop, dance, and hints of house. You need 37,000 ft in your life. I know I do.

So, I’m not really big on politics. Yeah, I watch the news and I typically have a general awareness of what’s going on, but I don’t live and breathe the logistics of politics. It’s just never been my cup of tea. As long as whoever is in charge is trying to improve our society, promote some level of equality, and is decently environmentally conscious, then that’s typically all I’m usually concerned with.
But it’s hard to avoid political enthusiasts and conversations of politics, especially due to my geographic location. Living in close proximity to Washington, D.C. I’m always encountering young professionals who are so passionate about politics (I usually try to avoid those lengthy conversations.) I’d rather discuss art, music, and perhaps sociocultural issues, but I refrain from political jargon. Yet, that doesn’t mean I’m immune to the desire to tune in to the White House Correspondents Dinner.
Every year I end up watching the White House Correspondents Dinner (WHDC.) Usually I tune in to see the “who’s who” and of course, the speeches given by the president. Luckily, we have a president in office who is actually quite funny (even if the jokes are written by someone else.) President Obama is quite the charismatic and humorous guy. He killed it last year at the WHDC, so I knew this year was going to be an even more hilarious feat. And I was right! Obama was pretty funny last night!
I really liked how they set up his speech. It all began with him walking off stage and then making it seem as though he accidentally left his mic on. So the crowd got to listen to Obama crack some jokes and express his thoughts, while making it appear as if he didn’t know the mic was on. It was classic! Then of course, he came out on stage and rocked the crowd with his jokes. He even joked a little to Newt Gingrich (who was in the audience,) and he told him that there was still time to get in the game. Newt himself had to even laugh, even if he wasn’t the biggest Obama supporter.
Following a round of great jokes and of course, commentary from Obama, Jimmy Kimmel then came on stage and did his thing. I was waiting for him to mention the obvious thing that apparently nobody was going to address; why the hell was Kim Kardashian at the dinner? She came with Lindsey Lohan and both of them just seemed so out of place. George Clooney’s presence and even the cast of Modern Family (Jimmy made fun of Sofia Vergara’s cleavage and the Colombian secret service scandal) seemed appropriate, but I was just shaking my head that Kim was there. Sorry, but yeah, I just don’t like her. She’s famous for what? Having a sex tape, and it wasn’t even that good. LOL. So yeah, I’m glad Jimmy at least poked fun at her.
Jimmy’s entire speech was pretty hilarious, and he truly did a kick-ass job! I could sit here and mention all my favorite jokes, but honestly I loved every moment of it. So instead of sitting here breaking everything down, I’d rather have you engage in the laughter and watch Jimmy’s speech below, as well as President Obama’s hilarious speech.
I hope you like both of the speeches just as I did.

One of the many reasons I watch Community, is because perhaps it reminds me of the few semesters I attended community college. There was always this unrelenting atmosphere of attempting to make community college “spirit-filled,” but majority of people just wanted to get their classes done and go home. There usually isn’t anything really exciting community college, which is due to the lack of football teams, parties, and a wide range of academic opportunities you typically find at a four-year college.
Yet, NBC’s Community still does a great job of reminding us that two-year colleges can still be a lot of fun, especially if you have Troy and Abed as your classmates. And on the latest episode, the crew relied on some inspiration from Law & Order to take the simple task of figuring out who smashed their potato, and going on this in-depth investigation that could have easily been an episode of Law & Order.
I really liked the episode, and I actually kept laughing at so many points. It was great! Usually Community has it’s hits and misses with me on a comedic level, but I was pleasantly pleased with the episode, which was titled “Basic Lupine Urology.”
Thanks to Hulu.com, you can watch the full episode below. If you like Community and/or Law & Order, then you’ll surely want to see the crew of Community hit a home-run with their spinoff of the classic crime series, Law & Order.

SubWars is basically this animated short about this old man who goes on a rampage on the subway (his weapon of choice is so Star Wars inspired), all because nobody would offer up their seat. Moral of the story? Next time you see an elderly person on the train or bus, give up your seat. It’s called respect. Or else, you could be pissing off some elder who is a master killer and highly trained in the art of ultimate rampage.
