The Avengers Assemble in Brand New Trailer

If I thought my week couldn’t get any better, well I was wrong, it just got a million times better. You may be asking yourself, why? Or you’re just scanning to the bottom of this post to see why it got better. Well let me explain what happened. No, I didn’t find true love or become a Super Saiyan (still awaiting that glorious day,) but something more epic happened; Marvel UK released a brand new trailer for the upcoming film The Avengers.

You know I’m a geek, and you also know that I’m madly in love with superheroes. My background on Twitter (follow me @thinksoul25) is the ultimate collection of Marvel characters. My favorite thing to draw is superheroes, and some days I like to lay down on my bed, close my eyes, and daydream about having powers (yeah, I’m a geek…I know.) So when I first found out last year that they were releasing a movie about the Avengers, I almost passed out. Then the trailer came out, and I was speechless watching it over & over again.

So now Marvel releases yet another brand new trailer for The Avengers, and this time it’s quite the epic experience. We actually get to see the Avengers assembling in order to fight this enemy threatening the global safety. Not only do we get to see glimpses of each Avenger being recruited, but the trailer ends with an awesome shot of the Avengers standing in a circle getting ready to unleash major damage; such an amazing shot!

I was already stoked about this film, but now I’m uber anxious for May 4th to arrive. The Avengers and Rise of the Dark Knight are probably going to be two films I can’t wait to see this year. I might even have to see them over & over again. I saw X-Men: First Class over and over again (about 4 times,) so I know The Avengers is going to be one of those films I have to watch again, again, and then yes, once more for the sake of humanity!

Sultry Soul | Jessie Boykins III – “B4 The Night Is Thru”

I can’t actually recall the last track I listened to by Jessie Boykins III, but I do remember that he always had this unique vibe about him. His style always reminded me of a timeless soul, and his hair is a unique work of art. But when you’re a sultry soul singer, you’re expected to bring a down to earth vibe to the table, so I don’t expect anything different from Jessie Boykins III.

His sultry vibe & soulful lyrics are surely coming back to mind thanks to his new song “B4 The Night is Thru.” I know remember why I used to listen to him a few years back; he’s got such a soulful voice that is essentially timeless. Not only does Jessie Boykins III have a nice sultry voice, but the music video directed by Dr.Woo is the epitome of soul…

Peep the visuals below for Jessie Boykins III “B4 The Night is Thru.” And how about that album artwork? Oh so soulfully chic.

But Mom, I Want to Be a Super Saiyan!

During the days of middle school I never really watched much Dragon Ball Z. It was mainly because I was stuck in this phase of conformity, and I kept trying to impress the girls around me in order to be part of the “popular crowd.” Apparently it wasn’t normal for a female to love video games, always talk about zombie attacks, and to constantly be in class talking about classic movies & paintings I’d hope to complete. It was “weird.”

So yes, I did try to avoid the stigma of being weird, but that didn’t last for long. I eventually realized that I’d rather chill with the geeks during lunch and listen to them argue about Dragon Ball Z, Pokemon, and discuss video games; I fit in with that crowd, not the popular divas. So after awhile I started watching some episodes of Dragon Ball Z, and I finally understood why everyone said they wanted to grow up and be a Super Saiyan….it’s so badass!

Who doesn’t want to grow up and become a Super Saiyan? It’s such a legendary transformation of overwhelming power, and it’s one that just looks super awesome. All the yelling & crazy hair blowing in the wind of energy is pretty epic if you ask me. So I’m not shocked when I still meet grown men that are fellow geeks and they still have that desire to be a Super Saiyan. Even if it’s impossible in our reality, it’s still fun to dream of being that awesome.

I’m never surprised to hear dudes rant about how awesome it would be, so I wasn’t at all shocked when comedian & vlogger Chengman decided to do an awesome Super Saiyan Prank. He basically took the level of awesomeness that encompasses transforming into a Super Saiyan and decided to do it in public. He basically walked into random public places and began yelling as if he was transforming. It’s so hilarious! I’m actually quite surprised he didn’t get arrested for being a public nuisance. But you’d have to lack sense of humor and a geeky bone to not find what he did funny, cool, awesome, and borderline epic.

I don’t think I’d ever have the guts to do what he did, but it’s still very awesome. The furthest I’d probably ever go is walking around public in some cosplay outfit. Yeah, that’s probably the most I’d do. Actually, I’m in the process of figuring out what to buy in order to dress myself up like the 80s cartoon character Jem, and take a bunch of photos. That should be fun, so stay tuned for that! And Wonder Woman cosplay too. :) But for now, enjoy the hilarious video below & remember that it’s totally okay if you want to grow up and be a Super Saiyan. That’s totally more epic than becoming a lawyer or top celebrity. Okay, maybe not that serious, but eh, still pretty epic.

And oh, you think it ends there? Nope, check out this kid below who really wants to be a Super Saiyan.  Haha, I love his video! Sadly enough, I be thinking like that too sometimes….yeah, I’m weird.

Epic Movie Cliches | Jimmy Kimmel’s ‘Movie: The Movie’

When it comes to late night talk shows the only show I’ll watch is Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. His show has the best of comedy, great personable interviews, and awesome live music from the legendary Roots band. How much better can it get? Even if you don’t watch it for the interviews or the music, you can at least enjoy the awesome games & hilarious segments that bring the show to life.

Basically my stance when it comes to late night t.v. is that Jimmy Fallon is currently the boss (until further notice.) But it doesn’t mean that he’s the only late night talk show host on the air (even though I don’t dare bother to watch anyone else.) But I’ve passed by the Jimmy Kimmel show a few times, and every time I’ve turned to it I found myself coming in at the right moment; typically Jimmy Kimmel is the midst of showing some spoof that him & his crew put together. So the last few times I tuned into Kimmel’s show I ended up seeing a spoof, but his latest spoof Movie: The Movie I actually ran across on the Web.

You know how every movie has that epic cliche that makes it, well, a good or bad movie? Well, Jimmy Kimmel decided to put every single epic movie cliche into a movie spoof called Movie: The Movie. It’s got everything we’ve all seen throughout the history of cinema, and it reminds us why movies are simply awesome. The cliches work. We love them, we expect them, and sometimes we crave them. It’s totally awesome when a film is avant-garde and diverts from the cliches in order to evoke innovation, but sometimes it doesn’t hurt to add in a cliche.

When all else fails, you can always get that jock in the members only jacket to tell the guy taking his ex, “Hey, take care of her man….” Seriously, “that guy” is in almost every single love story or teen flick. But we need that guy, or else the movie wouldn’t be the same! I’m telling y’all, cliches work, and Jimmy Kimmel totally makes it a hilarious compilation in his short movie, Movie: The Movie.

Simply Beautiful | Bon Iver – “Towers” (Official Music Video)

Ever since watching Bon Iver’s live studio recording at AIR studios, I’ve been listening to a lot of their music. Out of all the tracks I’ve heard, I must say that “Holocene” is surely a great song worth listening to on a quiet afternoon. Not just that track, but all of Bon Iver’s songs have this way of just easing your mind.

However, “Towers” is a track that is able to ease your mind, but still has that playful folk vibe that is the perfect soundtrack for a midday stroll. When I listen to the song I surely do think of a nice walk, but the music video for the song has something different in mind; an old man heading out to sea to build a towers. It sort of does have that classic literature vibe. One blog mentioned that its reminiscent of Ernest Hemingway’sThe Old Man and the Sea, which could be an accurate comparison.

It does remind me of the classic Hemingway story, but with a fresh spin on it. But instead of trying to sit here and analyze every aspect of the video, I’d rather just push play and enjoy the beautiful music & stunning visuals of Bon Iver’s lovely song, “Towers.”

Disco House | Jazzy Eyewear – “The Renaissance(Les Loups’ 1979 Remix)”

It seems like I devote each day to a genre of music, or at least a specific subdivision within the genre of house. If I’m not listening to some aspect of house, then perhaps I’m having a classic rock day, a 90s hip-hop/r&b day, or I’m lost in a zone of jazz, d&b, or electropop. In actuality, those are just a few of the numerous genres of listen to, but those are the main ones that I devote an allotted time.

Out of everything I bless my ears with, the sounds of house are always being heard 24/7. Even if it’s only for an hour or two, I just couldn’t go a day without house music. But sometimes I’m craving more than just deep house or soulful house, sometimes I need to hear the sounds of french house & disco house. So when I went on my YouTube search for some disco house, I was quite happy when I ran across Les Loups and their remix of Jazzy Eyewear’s “The Renaissance.”

The track was released in 2011, but it’s such a timeless track. The Les Loups’ 1979 Remix honestly feels as though you’ve stepped into a time machine, and you’re transplanted back to the days of disco nights & disco fever. And if I did have a time machine, I’d totally want to step back into the days of disco fever & experience the evolution of disco, as well as the sounds of house. That would have been such an amazing experience, but sadly I’m just a 91′ baby with an old soul.

So I never got to experience those disco nights, but it doesn’t mean I can’t enjoy them now.Hmm…sounds like I’ve got a mission to find some spots that have disco nights. Or I’ll just make some money in the next few years, and start hosting my own retro nights. Now that sounds pretty awesome! Let me grab my idea book. But for now, I’m going to just enjoy listening to Jazzy Eyewear “The Renaissance (Les Loups’ 1979 Remix)” over & over again. Such a good track!
