Awesomesauce | The Return of Baracka Flacka Flames

My family is pretty silly, but I will admit that out of myself, my mom, and my brother, my dad tends to be the one sane member. He’s just this down to earth intellectual Princeton Alumni that is constantly reading, watching the news, and researching fascinating facts regarding science, history, and politics. While the three of us (mom, brother, & me) are usually cracking up at some crude humor, he is often found reading a book or studying.

Even though my dad is so intellectual and “conservative” in comparison to the rest of us, he does have this hilarious moments that he just can’t help but laugh at. My dad is such a fun guy to hang around though, but certain things are just too crude and not funny in his opinion. But then there are things I’ll show him or we’ll see on television that will crack him up. Usually it’s some lighthearted comedy, but when it comes to Baracka Flacka Flames, my dad laughs himself into a coma!

Baracka Flacka Flames (sometimes written as Baracka Flocka Flame) is hands down the hilarious Obama impersonator I’ve seen throughout President Obama’s term. Yes, there have been a lot of people that have tried to portray Obama and his mannerisms, but Baracka Flacka Flames not only impersonates Obama, but he makes him so gangsta!

He did a great job with “Head of the State,” but now Baracka Flacka Flames is back with a new video “I Run the Military.” Some people tend to find this video offensive, but I think it’s quite hilarious! It’s not like he’s sitting there bashing the President or anything, he’s just showing us how Black President Obama really is. Basically Baracka Flacka Flames is Obama’s alter ego, and he’s married to a Michelle that is straight up from da hood! LOL she be mean muggin’ so hard in videos…man, it’s kind of scary!

“I Run the Military” is a video that essentially addresses the current political climate and what will happen in 2012 with the election. Baracka Flacka Flames addresses all his haterz and lets them know that “I Run the Military.” Enough said. At the end of the day, whether your a republican or democrat (I don’t get off into politics, but I lean more towards the liberal side) I’ve got to at least admit that he’s doing the best job he can to clean up a colossal mess that was left behind by the last administration. I’m just saying, it’s not all his fault so give the dude a break or else he will have to turn on his alter ego Baracka Flacka Flames and tell it like it really is.

Just because this video is so hilarious, I’m going to have to post “Head of the State” as well.

Team Rawr | Kelow – “Let It Go”

There may not be a lot of female rappers making it big on the mainstream hip-hop industry, but the indie circuit has a lot of females that are doing their thing. In the past I wrote about one of my favorite female rappers MC Melodee,  but there is another female artist out there that has caught my attention.

Thanks to @teamRAWR on Twitter, they let me know that yet another artist from Baby Dinosaurs & CO. has released a new video. The artist I’m talking about is this dope female rapper named Kelow. If you haven’t heard of Kelow, then you’re missing out on some great music from a rawr-diculously dope indie artist that screams creativity.

Kelow is an upcoming female rapper from Maryland, but she doesn’t just limit herself to rapping. She’s a songwriter, a poet, a painter, and a fusion of eclectic expression that many wish they could be. Kelow is unique, original, beautiful, eccentric, and super talented.

Her debut project Colored Pencils was released by Baby Dinosaurs & CO, and thus far the project has received quite the acclaim. Simply put, it’s good music. High quality production, innovative expression, and abstract thought are what make the album such a success. A lot of the tracks give you a glimpse into different emotions and concepts that Kelow likes to express, but her song “Let It Go” is one that many can relate to.

The video for “Let It Go” just came out the other day and its yet another amazing video shot by BDCO’s creative director Ayinde7. It’s a song that gives Kelow a chance to show off an avant-garde spoken word approach instead of spitting some solid rhymes. It’s unique. Artistic. Refreshing. Bold. It’s Kelow….

Check out the visuals below & be sure to follow her on twitter @SuperKelow  Also download her debut album Colored Pencils here

Amazing | The Vocals of Bluey Robinson

Some days I like to just sit down and listen to artists that having mind-blowing vocals. As of late I’ve really been enjoying the one of a kind voice of Florence Welch, as well as the vocals of Jessie J. Both of them made appearances at the VH1 Divas of Soul that premiered Monday Night (will post on here later,) but I must admit that Florence Welch almost brought me to tears. There is something so surreal and overwhelming majestic about her voice…

It’s nice to still see a lot of artists out there that are being plagued by auto-tune. I still get mad when Chris Brown puts so many effects on his voice with a lot of tracks. He should totally stop doing that; with a voice like his, he doesn’t need much to make it sound better. Now it’s just becoming too trendy and I’m over it. So now I have to find a new favorite male artist, so I think I’m going to go with Bluey Robinson.

This sexy lad has been making quite the buzz on the music scene, and notably he could probably be one of the best male singers from South London. This 22-year-old has quite a range on him when it comes to vocal ability, but his most recent cover “Can You Stand the Rain” has truly made me fall in love with his music.

He’s done a lot of covers of artists such as Stevie Wonder, Bruno Mars, Biggie Smalls, and most recently New Edition. You guys remember the song “Can You Stand the Rain” and how amazing it was? Well I will say that Bluey Robinson does justice to this classic New Edition track. Not only does he look extremely sexy singing it (haha, I’m a sucker for artistic guys with dreads, especially if they are British,) but he also reminds us why he is one of the best singers from the UK. His voice is impeccable!

I could go on & on about how much I adore Bluey Robinson and his music, but I think it’s best for you to check out his talent for yourselves. So check out some of his music below, which includes his latest video for his cover of the classic New Edition song “Can You Stand the Rain.” Seriously, I hope I run across an artistic guy in D.C., if not then I’m so moving to London and wooing one of those creative guys with a sexy accent. Ah, sounds like a backup plan if D.C. doesn’t work! :)
