Dream-wave, retro-space, and fantasy disco are the words used to describe the 80s inspired music of Futurecop! A lot of electropop may have that awesome 80s sound, but the music of UK based group Futurecop! really feels like you’ve just stopped into a Delorean DMC-12 and are heading back to the past, followed by a surreal trip back to the future. When I listen to Futurecop! I think of the Thundercats, Transformers, Unicorns, Street Fighter, and the Karate Kid, the original and not the Jackie Chan/Jaden Smith remake.
I was born in 91, but my mom made sure I knew about the 80s and appreciated the music, the movies, the style, and the overall vibe of that decade. The 90s were pretty awesome too, but man the 80s had some great dream-wave/electropop music. The soundtrack is what made the movies and tv shows come to life. I mean they were already pretty awesome on their own, but having such an iconic 80s sound made the creativity during that era stand out.
It’s nice to see a lot of artists reviving that 80s sound, but Futurecop! is the best group I’ve seen so far perfecting that 80s flashback. Their album Its Forever, Kids has a lot of awesome tracks that send you back into the days of Thundercats and the original Transformers. A majority of their tracks are a little over 2 years old, but they are still worth checking out. I’m not quite sure what the group’s next project will be, but I’m still jamming to Its Forever, Kids and getting lost in the sounds of their song “Karate Kids.”
Futurecop! is just an awesome group! It’s nice to sit back and chill out to the synthpop sounds of 80s inspired music. I totally just play videogames and blast their music throughout my room. My mom always knocks on my door and comes in, then she says “I like it, totally 80s.” LOL it’s classic! You can’t go wrong with an 80s infused soundtrack, it’s just a way of life!
