How To Make It In America: Season 2 Music Video Luis Guzman vs. Duck Sauce

The latest season of Curb Your Enthusiasm may have come to an end, and fans of Entourage are mourning the fact it’s the hit show’s last season, but that doesn’t necessarily mean there isn’t a hit show that could take it’s place. Many have said that “How To Make It In America” could be the next Entourage, or at least a another iconic show that explores the hit music and fashion industry of New York City. “How To Make It In America” is an HBO original series that stars Scott Mescudi (Kid Cudi,)  Bryan Greenberg, Victor Rasuk, Luis Guzman, Rachel Chapman, and some other great actors. It has a great cast and a lot of fans can relate to some of the struggles that the characters go through in order to make their dreams come true.

I first began watching the show mainly because of Kid Cudi, but then I realized there was more to than show them him. The show is truly about the two main characters Ben (Greenberg) and Cam (Rasuk) trying to make a name for themselves in New York city. The two do whatever they can to get ahead in the competitive fashion and entertainment industry of New York, which is why the show is called “How To Make It In America.” A lot of people have big dreams (including myself) and they end up moving to a big city, such as New York City, to get their hustle on and make their dreams a reality.

It’s a great show that explores how to truly “make it in America.” I’ve missed a few episodes of the first season, but I definitely have to catch up. Season 2 of the hit HBO series premieres Sunday October 2nd, so I’ve got a lot of television watching to make up for! I’m not sure what the new season will be about, but I do know that the new promo for the show is hilarious! I’m a huge fan of Armand Van Helden and A-Trak (who is actually the brother of Dave 1 from Chromeo) which are the two amazing producers that make up the group Duck Sauce.

Duck Sauce is most well-known for their hit song “Barbara Streisand” and my favorite song “Anyway.” For the new season of “How To Make It In America,” the duo teamed up with Luis Guzman to do a catchy spin on their hit song “Barbara Streisand.” Instead of saying the iconic name “Barbara Streisand,” the words are now replaced with the name “Luis Guzman.”

It’s such a catchy song and the promo video has some all-star appearances. Stars such as: Justin Bieber, Mark Wahlberg, Kid Cudi, Bryan Greenberg, Lake Bell, Victor Rasuk, Duck Sauce, Q-Tip, Pharrell Williams, Asher Roth, Pusha T, and many more make an appearance in the hot new promo for season 2 of the HBO hit series “How To Make It In America.”

Peep the promo below! If you’re like me and were too busy watching every single episode of Always Sunny of Philadelphia, then you’ve probably missed a majority of episodes from season one of the hit HBO series “How To Make It In America.” But fear not! You can watch season 1 on DVD or catch some episodes online with Comcast/Xfinity. Don’t forget to tune on Sunday night @ 10:30pm EST for the season 2 premiere; it’s going to be great!

Otto And Music: Pumped Up Young Folks

I watched a great special on ABC this weekend that explored the power of social media and YouTube. It was a great hour long segment that shed light on the amazing aspect of social media, especially YouTube. It’s crazy to think about how many people become successful on YouTube; the talented and the not-so-talented.

You can easily get lost for hours on YouTube. My favorite thing to do is watch some of my favorite music videos and then get caught up in a non-stop maze of clicking on related videos. Every now and then I will run across a related video that catches my eye, but today I ran across an amazing video that needs to be seen and heard.

So let’s talk about Otto. No, I’m not talking about the main character of Rocket Power with the crazy red hair and wicked skateboard moves. The Otto I’m talking about is this amazing acoustic guitar duo from New Hampshire. I’ve seen a few acoustic duos in the past, but none of them have that originality and edge that Matthew Otto and Zach Breslin have.

The two guys are extremely talented guitar players, and the vocals are on point! They have a lot of great original songs on their YouTube page, but their most innovative and original video is a mashup of Foster the People’s “Pumped Up Kicks” and Peter Bjorn and John’s “Young Folks.” Their version is called “Pumped up Young Folks” and it so needs to be heard! The title itself is witty and speaks to the personality of Otto. Both of the original songs are great on there own, but hearing them pieced together in such a beautiful acoustic version is simply mind blowing! I honestly don’t think anyone else could do a better mashup of those songs, it just doesn’t seem possible. Otto did such a great job and their mashup feels like an entirely new song that could easily be played on radio stations across the nation, even worldwide!

Otto definitely deserves more exposure and I hope their mashup of “Pumped Up Kicks” and “Young Folks” gives them that extra social media push. I would have never ran across these guys if it wasn’t for me feeling nostalgic and jamming to one of my old favorites song from 2006, “Young Folks.” I’m glad that YouTube had some sense and actually suggested some great related content; OttoAndMusic. These guys have such a great future ahead of them if they continue to pump out some great acoustic mashups and amazing original songs. Otto is a duo that needs to be heard, watched, and supported. So if you like good music and you’re a fan of Foster the People & Peter Bjorn & John, then head over to YouTube and fall in love with the uber talented sounds of Otto. You don’t want to miss out!

Pumped Up Young Folks (Foster the People – Peter, Bjorn, and John): Performed by Otto

For those of you who haven’t heard the songs that Otto has mashed up, check them out below! Otto did such a great job of fusing two unique songs into an innovative and exceptional original mashup. What else can I say? Otto (Matthew Otto and Zach Breslin) are an amazing acoustic duo that need to be heard! Visit their YouTube Page OttoAndMusic for more great songs!

SNL: Red Flags & Bad Parenting

Have you ever met someone who gives off not-so-subtle clues? They try to portray themselves as this amazing person, but they accidentally (or perhaps on purpose) give out clues that can be alarming. They appear so seemingly innocent and like a breathtaking person, but as you dive further into conversation with them, you realize that person is crazy!

I’ve meet a few people in my day that have tried to come off as calm and cool, but in actuality they are quite mentally unstable. They can’t help but to give off some major red flags. It’s like there is an invisible radar surrounding them that has little red flags sticking out of every area of their body; a clear indication to avoid contact and evacuate the area. Those warning signs are serious, but they can be funny during the first initial moments of contact, which is why I’m glad that Saturday Night Love decided to do a spoof on perfume advertisements and red flags.

Someone can seem so beautiful and breathtaking, but in actuality they can be the most crazy and annoying person ever! In the Season premiere of SNL on Saturday, they aired a fake Chanel perfume advertisement called “Red Flag.” The hilarious advertisement is similar to a typical Chanel ad, but the descriptions and events that take place are far from “typical.” Everything the woman does and says is a red flag.

The advertisement was one of my favorite segments of the night, which also included a hilarious skit on bad parenting. Alec Baldwin played a child psychologist who proclaimed to be an expert on raising children. But during the entire night with his lovely date his daughter kept crying in the background and making some hideous faces; it was pure comedy! I love how Alec Baldwin’s character remained so calm and cool about everything his daughter was doing, while the date seem extremely concerned. Sounds like his actions were a red flag!
