Lifetime Movie Channel’s pick-a-flick sucks tonight, so I’m sitting here cracking up and watching Spongebob Squarepants. So childish! But I’m the first to admit that I’m a big kid at heart and I love the innocent (sometimes not-so innocent) comedy of Spongebob and his friends.
It’s crazy that I’m sitting here watching the new season of Spongebob; I seriously thought they would have ran out of episode ideas by now. It seems like every episode is so different, nothing is ever quite the same. Of course every episode does have: Plankton always trying to get the Krusty Krab secret, Patrick being an idiot, Squidward being annoyed by Spongebob, and Mr. Krabs usually on a get rich scheme. But the antics of every Spongebob episode always seem to differ, which is why it’s one of the longest running shows on Nickoledeon.
Can you believe its been on since May 1999? I still remember my first time ever watching Spongebob Squarepants. I was intrigued and hooked by his bubbly personality.Spongebob has a way of getting into so much nautical nonsense, it’s kind of hard not to laugh. I’m a huge fan of Spongebob and his little nautical buddies, so I hope they continue to bring the funny with more new episodes. 306 aired episodes to date and they aren’t showing any signs of quitting.
I’ve met a lot of people who think Spongebob is a stupid show, but if it’s so stupid then how come it’s the longest running animated show on Nickoledeon? Can you imagine the crazy amount of money the voice actors have saved up? I’d imagine that the entire Spongebob operation is quite lucrative. It must be pretty cool to be a voice actor on an animated show that always seems to bring the funny. Spongebob Squarepants is surely a pop culture reference in my eyes. I’ve spent the past 10 years watching the hilarious nautical antics and when I was younger I loved having Spongebob merchandise. I no longer collect Spongebob themed items (I’m all about being grown and sexy now, especially in decor items,) but I still enjoy a dosage of life in Bikini Bottom.
I may have seen every single episode of Always Sunny in Philly, but Spongebob is one of those shows that I doubt I will see every single episode. 307 episodes is a lot to take in, so I’d rather enjoy the nautical nonsense one random episode at a time. I’m not ashamed to admit that I still watch Spongebob Squarepants here and there; at least I’m not playing the Spongebob video games on Ps2 anymore (that feels like ages ago thanks to next generation systems). Now I’m a Sims 3 junkie on my Macbook Pro and Ps3. I love the Sims 3! But that in itself is truly another discussion for another day.
So for now, I conclude a basic period. Or shall I say, the end! Perhaps this would be the perfect moment for one of those random Spongebob time cards. You know the ones with the nasle voice guy saying “three hours later.” That is one of my favorite voices to do, cracks me up each time. I just can’t help it, I’m truly a big kid at heart.I like absurd nautical nonsense and I love the raw abrasive adult comedy of Always Sunny Philly; what a combination of humor!
