Lately, the start of my days have been quite routine. I wake up at around 7am to the sound of LMFAO’s Party
Rock Anthem. It has been proving itself as a not only a great song to dance to, but an even better morning wake up call. I let it play for a few seconds, then I roll over and see the flashing red message indicator on my Blackberry. The past few days I’ve been greeted by these cute goodmorning texts from this nice guy I’ve been talking to( possibly I will entertain you guys with more details on that later this week.)
Somewhere between being shocked by Party Rock and reading my text, I usually attempt to sneak in some breakfast. For the past few weeks I’ve been loving Trader Joes brand of Frosted Wheats, but I’m surely going to need some bacon soon. Bacon is awesome! I should go out and buy some this morning, then go home and eat bacon. Yeah, sounds like a plan.
But, I digress. So after checking my phone, I ride along with my mom and accompany her on the morning errands (dropping my dad off, going to the store, etc.) That goes by pretty quick, but usually if I’m not off running morning errands with her, I’m at home jamming to the sweet sounds of soulful and spiritual house.
I love a morning fueled by house, it’s even better than lattes, and I’m a sucker for a yummy latte. Lattes, house music, a good book, a few hours of video games, and perhaps some charming eye candy, are the recipe for a perfect day in my book. But house is truly the momentum that decides the course of the day. Dance music is a sure fire way to be pumped and ready to attack the day ahead, but a lot of deep soulful house has this spiritual element to it that taps into my own personal beliefs.
House is the type of music that, no matter who you worship or what you believe in, it allows you to formulate your very own personal experience. The type of experience that can refresh the soul and ease the mind.
So in celebration of finding those soulful grooves that can ease the mind, kiss the soul, and even evoke a spiritual revival, I want to share with you some of my favorite tunes. I’m only showing you a few, don’t want to overwhelm you and send you into a house coma. But if you visit YouTube and just keep clicking on related videos, you will find a bunch of soulful house goodies. Kenny Bobien is a must listen to artist for any house junkie and you can never go wrong with classic Byron Stingly. Those men can sing!!
Lovebirds feat. Stee Downes Want You In My Soul Original Mix
Such a beautiful song! Can’t go wrong with the Lovebirds. The intro is a little long, but it’s beautiful. If you want to skip straight to the goodness, then go to 2:32.
Knee Deep ft. Cathy Battistessa – All About Love (Knee Deep Vocal Mix)
I love her voice. It’s so pure, so refreshing, so enchanting, and so soulfully enriched.
Nu Colours – Desire ( Masters At Work )
Get Get Down by Paul Johnson
I guarantee you, listen to this song and you will have a great day! It’s one of my favorite house songs and it’s so fun to dance to.
DJN Project & Kenny Bobien – What A Way
Love Is What You Need (Look Ahead) (Knee Deep Deep Dub)
WHY WE SING (CHURCH MIX) – KENNY BOBIEN
Samantha James-Waves Of Change (Nikola Gala Remix)
A hint of dance, but still has this nice vibe to it that blends in well with my house playlist. Perfect morning song!
