There is nothing I love more than good coffee, great music, and a heavy dosage of nonstop laughter. It’s usually nice when I can have one of those delights on it’s own, but getting all three together is a blast! Now of course I might not always have a latte in my hand, but it’s still great when comedy and great music come together. I’m not even a big dance enthusiast, but I do love dancing, laughing, and just having a great time getting lost in the music. I’d rather be dancing and laughing with a group of friends, rather than watching a dance performance; that just isn’t my thing.
But I do enjoy when someone can combine dance with comedy and have a great time. So, have you guys heard of Nathan Barnatt? Perhaps I’m the only person
out there who hasn’t seen this guy dancing on YouTube (I highly doubt that), but his videos are hilarious! He has an entire serious of comedic sketches where he dances to some great songs, including Madeon’s “Pop Culture” mashup and Yelle’s “Que Veux Tu.” His dancing isn’t the best in the world, but his vibrant energy is amazing! It makes you just want to get up and dance along with him.
He is actually a comedian and actor, but he has had great viral success with his comedic sketches. This guy is so funny, well in my opinion. I’m not too hard to please when it comes to laughter, except when it comes to Tyler Perry films. I just don’t find them funny, but that is a story for another day! So, yeah, Nathan Barnatt…he is funny! I just love how odd and awkward he looks while dancing. Not to mention, the faces he makes are epic!
Check out his music videos for “Pop Culture” and “Que Veux Tu,” and be sure to visit his YouTube for more sketch comedy. It’s dancing, comedy, and great music all in one spot; I love it!

NBC might be a great network that has some hilarious hit shows, but there local media lineup is quite impressive as well. If you live in/or close by to a major city, then most likely you have a local NBC channel provided by your digital cable provider. Here in the DMV (DC.MD.VA) area, Comcast/Xfinity has a local NBC channel that comes on channel 208 (depending upon where you live.) The channel features various shows that showcase different areas in DC, as well as a lot of content from New York.
My favorite shows to watch are Nonstop Foodies:DC and Nonstop Scene:DC. Both shows are worth checking out if you live in the DMV area and want to find some great spots to check out in the area. They usually go to various spots in DC, Maryland (Silver Spring, Bethesda, etc,) and Northern Virgina. There are so many great restaurants and unique venues to hang out in the area, but Nonstop Foodies and Nonstop Scene, the DC edition, help you find out about the hottest places to visit.
Every major city has a Nonstop Foodies and a Nonstop Scene, such as Nonstop Foodies: LA and Nonstop Scene: New York. The programming content is usually focused on the area it is being broadcasted, but NBC also shows content from LXTV. If you haven’t heard of LXTV, then it’s worth checking out. It’s an upscale luxury video and media program that shows off the hottest in design, food, fashion, nightlife, and other activities that are popular in major cities. The network was originally a strictly local entertainment television and web series, but in 2008 NBC brought it and made it’s programming content available on different local NBC channels.
LXTV, Life/Style Television, has a great selection of shows that air on the NBC local channels. One of my favorite shows is Open House. The show is perfect for all those who love luxury housing and unique apartments that make bold statements. Each episode takes a look at some great abodes in major cities across the country and flaunts off unique design flairs. It’s a hint of HGTV, but with a more luxurious urban vibe.
Earlier today I watched an episode of LXTV’s Open House and they took a look at the famous Black Apartment. I’ve heard of it once before, but never had a chance to actually check it out. The apartment is located in Manhattan, New York and it’s owned by renowned international advertising guru Cindy Gallop. The stylish apartment is known for it’s all-black decor, designer shoe collection, and it’s dark yet enticing vibe. You’d think that a space with all black walls and floors would be depressing, but the Black Apartment is delightfully bold with pops of color.
I wouldn’t want to live in a Black Apartment, but this place does look pretty awesome. I’d personally want to live an apartment with exposed brick, red walls, and hardwood floors; but the famous Black Apartment is pretty chic. Watch the video below and check it out!

I’ve been slaving away at homework all day and anxiously awaiting for my advisor to email me back. The homework is tedious as usual, but the good news is I officially graduate in Summer 2012. Even though I need 120 credits to graduate and will have them at the end of May, I will still need 2 upper division courses. It doesn’t matter what the two courses are, as long it’s upper division; so graduating next summer should be a breeze!
As I get closer to finishing undergraduate, a part of me looks back on my childhood and says “wow.” I can’t believe I’m almost done with college. It feels like it was only yesterday that I was having sleepovers and playing board games. I’ve always been a huge video game junkie, but I had a special spot in my heart for classic board games. Sometimes it was nice to put the controller down, invite some buddies over, and play boardgames.
I will admit, I haven’t played a board game in a long time. We live in such a digital society and the concept of sitting down to play a board game gets lost in the mix of high-tech gadgets, amazing videogames, and arcade games. But it’s not like the board game market has gone out of a business; they still make board games. Trust me, there is still a team of people out there at Hasbro and other big name companies that are constantly contemplating ways to attract more people to play board games.
I grew up playing the classic board games such as Monopoly, Life, Sorry, and Scrabble. I used to have so much fun as a kid using my brain to make decisions. Board games aren’t the hardest thing in the world to play, but they do require strategy. Life and Monopoly are probably the only two games I played that actually prepared me for life. What better way to prepare children for a future than creating games that explore the oh so exciting world of finance, career decisions, owning property, and having a family.
Back in the day it seemed like Monopoly was just a fun, sometimes tedious game that I played with my friends, but in actuality I learned a lot from it. I learned that owning property is actually a great way to achieve wealth in our society. I even learned that it takes a simple get out of jail card to avoid sentencing in life….NOT! Lol. Not everything in the game has a life applicable lesson, but the guys at Hasbro are trying to make the game more realistic. Hasbro recently released a new version of the game called Monopoly:Electronic Banking. The new version of the game is attempting to stay current with the technological innovations in our society and it uses a credit card based banking system.
The new game actually looks pretty interesting and it is a great way to teach kids about a credit based system. But I think they should incorporate some credit score aspects. For instance, instead of being able to buy a property you should have to pass the credit score test. LOL! That would be crazy, but its so true. That would probably be a lot for little kids to handle, but it would be a serious learning experience.
But I digress, Monopoly is supposed to be fun and contain a few applicable life lessons. But the new electronic banking edition might just be the digital makeover that sets a trend in the board game community. Maybe more games will start to take an electronic approach. Life has already added a credit card based system, so it will only be a matter of time before more children are learning those valuable life lessons from board games.

Happy Wednesday!
It’s the middle of the week and the weekend feels like it’s right around the corner. Wednesday is one of my favorite days because Friday isn’t too far away. But it is also a great day of the week because so many great shows come on. A lot of great shows have returned this fall and some new shows have also popped up in the world of television. There is a lot out there to choose from, but there are some shows that are so worth watching.
If you’ve been reading my blog, then you know that I’m a television junkie. I love to just unwind from the stress of schoolwork and get lost in great comedy. I’m not a fan of dramatic shows such as Greys Anatomy (I hate that show) and a lot of the crime series. I’m a huge comedy buff, so I have to be able to laugh. When I’m not laughing, then I love watching reality shows on TLC. Sister Wives is actually a pretty good show and it’s crazy how he has those four wives and all them kids; it’s madness!
TLC has some pretty good programming, as well as Style, Bravo, Animal Planet, and of course HGTV.
But when I’m not watching reality shows, then I’m laughing my butt off at situational-comedy, i.e. the sitcom. There are so many hilarious shows this Fall that you have to check out! Every episode always brings the funny with a heavy dosage of laughter. The fall television lineup for comedy this year is funnier than ever, especially with shows like Always Sunny in Philadelphia and Modern Family. I love the raw and raunchy comedy of Always Sunny, but I also enjoy the not-so-modern antics of the families on Modern Family. Both shows are so worth watching! So if you happen to be at home this evening, be sure to check out the new episode of Modern Family.
Luckily I have a DVR and never miss any episodes of my favorite shows. The funny thing is when my
mom can’t record all her shows at once on the DVR in the living room or the one in her bedroom, then she asks me to put stuff on my DVR. We watch so much television that we have three HD DVR boxes in the house. It’s not like we watch the boob tube all day, but at night it’s nice to take a break from the madness of our hectic daily schedules and just get lost in comedy.
If you happen to be like me and love a good laugh in the evening, then check out some of my favorite television shows on this Fall that are bound to give you a heavy dosage of pure laughter.
