I may have a passion for 80′s movies, but the 90′s is my favorite era in pop culture. I was born in April of 1991 and I grew up watching all the 90′s sitcoms, cartoons, and jamming to the music.
The 90′s is often referred to as the golden age for hip-hop, but it was also a time period that pumped out some of the best shows. For years I’ve been talking about so many of my favorite 90′s shows and expressing my
frustration with some of today’s shows on Disney and Nick. Disney has tried to revive the sketch comedy show with their new show So Random, but it will never be All That.
I know I’m not the only person out there who misses the 90′s and apparently Nickelodeon has realized the need for reviving the 90s. I’m a huge fan of programming on Cartoon Network and Nick, I still watch Spongebob and have so many episodes of Rocko’s Modern Life on DVR. I love the simplicity and purity of the humor that those 90′s shows brought. How about them 90′s dads? Haha, they were classic! The 90′s attempt at parents being in a control and flaunting their authority, always ended up in some humorous and cliche lecture.
There is no denying that the 90′s had the best shows and I’m so happy to hear that Nickelodeon has brought the shows back. Shows such as Kenan & Kel, Doug, All That, Hey Arnold, Rocko’s Modern Life, Legends of the Hidden Temple, Clarissa Explains It All and many more are airing Midnight every weeknight on TeenNick. Luckily I’m a night owl and happen to be up, so my weeknights have gotten even better now. My vibrant laughter can be heard throughout the house and my mom is usually up watching the same thing and laughing as well. She raised me during the 90′s and loved watching all the kids shows with me, she still watches cartoons with me, it’s great!
If you miss the 90′s as much as I do, then be sure to head over to TeenNick’s website and join the discussions. I could sit here for hours talking about all my favorite episodes of The Rugrats, Wild Thornberrys, Cat Dog, and so many other great shows. If you’re on twitter, then use the hashtag #90sAreAllThat and follow the trend. The 90′s had some of the best television shows ever made in history, seriously guys, it’s epic! So don’t miss out, join in and watch all the old 90s shows.
After all these years of waiting for these shows to come buy and trying to find them on Amazon and Itunes, it’s nice to finally have them. I’m so glad I’m a 90′s baby!!!! 90′s kick ass! All the 90′s babies and fanatics need to band together and promote this revival of the 90′s show, where my 90′s lovers at?!
P.S. I know the Family Matters theme song by heart and occasionally bust out into song. LOL anyone who has ever hung out with me, has heard me sing the entire theme song. I’m so silly! I loved Family Matters, Hangin’ With Mr. Cooper, Parenthood, Fresh Prince of Bel Air, Martin, Jamie Foxx Show, and other shows made during the 90s.

France may be a country known for its romance and awesome crepes, but it has a great electronic music scene. Some of the best music I’ve heard has been produced by French producers/ DJ’s. One of the world’s best DJ’s is David Guetta and he happens to be French. Not to mention Daft Punk hails from France and they are electronic music legends! Among other notable French artists I listen to, are Sébastien Léger, Dimitri From Paris, Bob Sinclar, and Antoine Clamaran.
France has been the birth place of many great electronic musicians and Ed Banger Records is a label home to some of my favorite artists. Ed Banger Records is a label founded by Pedro Winter in 2002 and over the year it has become a premiere French electronic music label. Some of the notable acts include Sebastian (Timbaland’s younger brother,) Cassius, Justice (pure awesomeness,) DJ Medhi, and Breakbot.
I recently heard about Sebastian and Breakbot, but the other artists I’ve been fans of for quite some time. Breakbot is a French producer and DJ that is known for pumping up the crowd with an electro-funk sound. I first ran across his music a few months ago on YouTube and fell in love with his innovative music video
“Baby I’m Yours” featuring Irfane.
The song has this catchy electro beat, and the high vocals provide by Irfane resonate in your head. It’s a great song overall, but the video is even better! The reason I say that, is because the video composed of 2000 images water color painted. Now how cool is that? Not only does the song chill you out with funky grooves, the video is visually stunning and an artistic creation.
When I’m not in the mood to listen to electro funk, then I chose from so many other talented acts on the Ed Banger team. DJ Medhi’s “Signatune” is a track I listen to very often, but not as much as Justice’s “Genesis” and all their other great tracks. When I’m in the mood to just get lost in the pulsating beats, then I’ll go crazy to Carte Blanche’s “Gare Du Nord.” The song is pure electro at it’s finest and the video features a bunch of Black folk dancing, how much better could it get?!
Ed Banger Records always does an excellent job of serving up the best in French electronic music. Even though I’m a huge house music junkie, I’m not ashamed to admit that I’m also a electronic dance music junkie. House is essentially a more chill and soulful genre with the electronic music category. Electro pop, dance, drum & bass, nu-wave, and so many other genres make up the beautiful collection of electronic melodies.
Some songs may be too repetitvite and feel like knives stabbing my ears, but most of Ed Banger’s track are easy on the ears and hard on the body. There is no way you can listen to a full collection of Ed Banger Record’s artists without dancing, twirking, shaking, or doing some type of body movement…it’s good music!
From the First EP “Black Billionaires”
One of the hardest tracks! I can play this song all day, followed by Justice “Genesis”
I love this video and “Signatune” is awesome too!
